When there is no point to anything it can get confusing...

It turned out to be a long week. Not bad, per se, but long.

The birthday went well. After work, I met up with Craig and Matt and we went to Keysters to see the McKenzies. There was definitely a large crowd there, but it wasn't uncomfortably packed. The show went until right about 2AM, so it made for a long night but we had a good time. The next day was the family birthday extravaganza (read: Cake! Presents!). It was a pretty standard family event, as far as that type of things go. My grandma thought I was 25 for one reason or another and I had spend a good hour convincing her I was actually 24. In retrospect, I probably found it funnier than I should have but what can you do? I just never thought I would have to argue myself down in age - ever.

Thursday was the trip to Iowa City for Bright Eyes. I had a really fantastic time. Lindsay came down from Cedar Rapids to meet Bill and I for dinner before the show. When I got to the IMU for the show, I was pretty happy I had gotten my ticket when I did since it was sold out. I stayed somewhat towards the back for the show, but it was surpisingly nonproblematic. Since I am on the short side, I was worried my view would be obstructed for the entirity of the show but it only happened once or twice (and momentarily at that!). I was slightly put out I didn't get to hear a couple of my favorite songs, but what can you do? Afterwards, we went out for one of Bill's friend's birthday. We started out at the College St. Billiards Club and then went dancing before heading back to Bill's.

On Friday, youblinked caught up over coffee and then she and her friend Joe gave me a little tour around campus. They were exceptional tour guides, I must say. I stopped back by Bill's, and then headed home. I was actually excited to start home because I had inadverntly discovered two different radio stations playing Christmas music on the way up. Exciting, right?! Also, I decided that I like to approach long-ish car drives like a challenge..."According to most sources, the drive will take just over two hours. The question is - can I make it in an hour and a half?" Overall, it was a great trip. Only 24 more days until I do it again. Ha.

The rest of the weekend has been lowkey. I stayed in and watched the My Name is Earl mini-marathon last night since I've missed some episodes. It is a decent show, I think. It will be interesting to see how future seasons shape up. And speaking of awesome television shows, why the Hell was Arrested Development cancelled?

And in other news: For your viewing pleasure, I submit the new White Stripes video, featuring Conan!. It ranks somewhat high on the trippy scale, so I can't reccomend watching it if you're high. Also, I just got done watching the video for the Strokes' new single (thanks to ohnotheydidnt). Very cool. Very cool indeed.

I finally listened to the Babyshambles album Down in Albion. Conclusion? I like the Libertines much better. There are some good songs on the album, don't get me wrong, but I just dig the Libertines more. I don't think I am alone in this idea, either....at least, I hope not.

Good Night, and Good Luck is at the Fleur. This is exciting!

the libertines, bright eyes, babyshambles, videos, iowa city, weekends, conan, the white stripes, arrested development, my name is earl, movies, bill, music, the strokes
