Things that go bump in the night

The sounds of bodies crashing, things breaking, and someone screaming, "fuck me, please fuck me harder" has been bouncing through the halls and into my apartment for the last half an hour. Its actually a fairly frequent occurrence and is actually rather tame this evening. It doesn't bother me. I just find it amusing. I often wonder why they don't just fuck in the hall. At least then no one would make the mistake of calling the police to report a domestic disturbance.

It is about 3:30 in the morning, so it is fair to assume that most people are sleeping through the show. Not me though. I'd say that in general I get my best thinking done from 3-5 in the am. The early stages of sleep deprivation combined with relative solitude make an excellent combination. Tonight my thoughts are about Karl Marx and the Fantasia short "The Sorcerer's Apprentice."

Marx said that it is human nature for those with power (those in control of the means of production) to exploit those without it (the workers). This exploitation would benefit those in power and would continue to get worse and worse. Seems that Mickey probably felt that way. All those chores and not one lousy spell from the Sorcerer. Poor Mickey, what is a mouse to do?

According to Marx, the mouse is supposed to get fed up with the exploitation and revolt. This revolt will lead to a utopia where the workers control the means of production and thus create a fair and balanced society. Its a shame Marx didn't stick to his observations about human nature. If it is human nature for those with power to exploit those without it, what is to stop the workers from exploiting others after the revolt? I know it wasn't quite a revolt, but what happened when the Sorcerer left? There was a power vacuum that Mickey was more than happy to fill. Being new to the whole power thing Mickey made quite the mess.

Only in the wee hours of the early morning does this sort of fusion take place in my brain. I make no claims that it is either deep or original thought. It simply amuses me. Much like that couple down the hall who are currently exploiting the hell out of each other. And loudly I might add. Perhaps its Marx and Mickey rolling around in broken bits of manifesto and broom handle.
