I work (very) part time as a supervisor at a clinic; I'm officially there Wednesday nights and I have been going for 45minutes on Thursdays for the Summer to help supervise a new clinician. I borrow the office of a Psychologist who has filled the office with many homey touches: a fabric mural, pictures of family and friends, plants, and a shelf unit behind her desk. There are books on the bottom, but most of it is covered by spiritual and African art: there is a cross and several small icons, some African statuettes, and several 'witch' dolls: crones with pointy hats an brooms and whatnot, in a folk art style. There has been a sign on the shelf saying "Please do not play with these items, they are not toys."
Last week, I vaguely recall on one of the nights I was there, that one of the witches was in the trash. I don't remember thinking much other than, "Oh, I wonder if somebody broke it, what a shame."
Today, there is a sign on the shelf saying "Please replace my big witch. Someone took it. It's a shame. (Initials)."
I started to write a note explaining I'd seen the witch in the trash and saying, "while this doesn't return your witch to you, it hopefully lets you know nobody took her maliciously." Then I got anxious thinking about how the note might be misinterpreted and whether I just shouldn't keep my mouth shut, I have no idea how many people use this office, this woman might be nuts, etc. So at this point I'm thinking maybe I should just say nothing and continue to be a ghost of a presence that lets the story fade away? Thoughts?
