More picspams! I only have two tonight. :)

DISCLAIMER: Very image heavy! Spoilers if you haven't seen the episode!!

Out of all ten seasons, I feel confident in saying that The Fifth Race is my favorite SG-1 episode. It speaks to the whimsical fan in me that was just cheesing over the fact that JACK MET THE ASGARD! OMFG!!!! You know?

I didn't even start watching SG1 until season 9 had already started airing. So I was buzzing through these first seasons on DVD like mad, just loving it all. When it got to this episode, I couldn't believe how entranced I was by it all.. by this scene. I was actually in tears when it all ended. The combination of the pacing, the sparse dialogue, and the music swelling at just the right time really knocked me on my ass. It was all just so beautiful.

I think the reason I reacted this way was just because... I don't know... I guess part of me hoped and wished that this was how we would actually, really come in contact with an alien race. It was beautiful and hopeful and spoke to how much life and history and existence there could be in this galaxy and many others, and I freakin' LOVE that possibility. Which, I suppose, is part of what draws a lot of people to sci-fi in the first place... the unknown. This episode took that unknown, put a face to it, and showed that Jack can be just as effective an ambassador as Daniel could be. After all, Asgard <3 O'Neill.

Small recap for those who have no idea what this is: Jack accidentally got the entire information archive for a brilliant alien race downloaded into his brain. After a while, it was taking him over and he built his own way to get some help. We had no idea where he was going...

Two very shallow things: 1) Rumply Jack is HOT. 2) When the Asgard looks up at him, I just want to squish him, he's so cute! 3) That HANDSHAKE. Meep!

BONUS SCENE! (One that I actually did first, with a whoooole different font.)
