Just a quick drive-by.
= Watching Eddie Vedder induct REM into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame tonight was a very beautiful thing. If his love for the band and for Michael ("I just love him") didn't make me weepy enough, he had to go and mention Kurt. Damn. I wish he was there too, Ed. I can't believe REM's been together for 27 years. 27 years! I feel so old. Eddie came out and sang with them during Man On The Moon! meep! And the "People Have The Power" jam at the end was GLORIOUS. Hot damn, I hope this turns up on the torrents so I can keep it forever. And I can't help but think of the day when PJ will be inducted (I know, but I can hope), and how much of a freakin' mess I'll be. I only got to see clips of the early part of the show, but I'm thrilled that Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five were inducted, and it was hella weird to see Van Halen inducted without, you know, a Van Halen guy there to accept it. It aired on VH1 classic tonight, live, but it's airing on the regular VH1 this Saturday at 9pm.
= Apparently, Variety is reporting that Friday Night Lights and 30 Rock have a "fighting chance" at a 2nd season (yipee!), and that nobody at NBC wants Studio 60 back next year. Even though I'm one of about 12 people who enjoyed S60, I do believe that Kevin Reilly is really impressing me, you get a feeling that he genuinely cares about quality programming. Kinda. There's still that whole Deal or No Deal situation. But I can accept that he uses that cheap show to fill time and get ratings that enables him to save money and spend it elsewhere, or enables him to keep the small shows that wouldn't survive otherwise. (
wowza)
= Did you hear? Did you hear? Michael Shanks will be a
recurring character on 24! I assume it's for later this season, I'm not sure, but yay! I will have to watch! I'm really happy for him, I hope everyone gets to see how lovely he is. He may not be playing Daniel, which is half the reason I love him, but I'll watch Michael in anything. Hey, I watched Under The Mistletoe for him, I'm a FAN.
= Good News! The Office returns on April 5th at a special time (8pm) for a new, super-sized episode! Wheee! So the schedule is as follows: March 15 - Newpeats! With deleted scenes they didn't even put up at nbc.com! (Traveling Salesmen, The Return)
March 22 - NO EPISODE
March 29 - HR Nightmare Marathon! (Diversity Day, Health Care, Sexual Harassment, The Injury, Gay Witch Hunt)
April 5 - NEW SUPER-SIZED EPISODE (no info yet)
That's not so bad. We can handle that.
= That's all I got. I'm gonna try and finish a movie before I pass out. Night!
