Hello all! I know I don't post here often :) but hoped LJ might allow a little more depth in answers than Facebook.
After 7 years of good service, the motor/fan of my Sony Vaio laptop (which I bought as a lightweight portable little thing for when I was at the Bar) has started making really awful noises. I'd been planning to get myself a bigger, newer one for starting my PGCE this autumn as my laptop really has been grinding along recently, so guess my hand had been forced to get myself a new one now.
Can anyone please give me any advice on what to look for/avoid please? I guess I'd like a PC laptop as I'm very used to one, a good sized screen, a large memory for photos and music (what counts as large?) and a sturdy disc drive for finally getting round to copying all my CDs!
Can't think of anything else in particular... I only plan to use it otherwise for Internet browsing/email, Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
Any cool new stuff I should be aware of? Anything I should beware of?
Many thanks!
