I don't have a "bang my head against the wall" icon, so evil will have to do

Some may remember my earlier post about replacing a motorcycle chain.  Well, that was this weekend's activity.  And will now be next weekend's activity, too.

First step on my Do list was undo the front sprocket.  Simple enough to get to, but I could not get the nut off.  Luckily, my neighbor is a mechanic, and we ran an air line from his garage to mine and tried an impact hammer.  Didn't work.  So we tried a breaker bar with a looong arm, and with some work finally got the damn nut off.

Used a grinder to undo the rivets to get the chain undone, then on to the rear wheel.  I lacked the right size socket, so off the auto parts store to buy the wrong size.  Then back once more to buy the right size.  Out comes the breaker bar once more (the last mechanic appears to have used red Loctite on both nuts from the residue I found).

Now to remove the rear sprocket.  First four nuts come off with great difficulty, the fifth and last... doesn't.  I round it nicely, but finally get the stupid thing off.  As long as I'm here, let's look at those rubber shock absorbers inside the rear wheel.  I tear one getting it out.

Sooo... now that I have a parts list (my third) to complete the job, I call the parts department at the motorcycle shop, and none of them are in stock.

I note all of my motorcycle projects turn into multi-week events where the primary activity is waiting for UPS.
