How many miles on it? Spark plugs are cheep, put on in it anyway. Sounds like you got a tank of bad gas. Try a new plug and a fresh tank of the good stuff

Almost 10,000 KM (6200 and change miles).

The spark plug was changed back in Feb or so, but knowing the previous owner, he probably went cheapo with it.

I also intend to take the air filter box apart and clean it thoroughly.

The weird part is, if I don't completely open the throttle or push the engine hard, she runs fine...

Air filter? Does it have a fuel filter hiding somewhere? Just hope it's not the jets or other carb issue!

I'll take a look at the air filter and see if I can find a fuel filter. Will also talk with the previous owner and look around online.

spark plugs, oil change, and air filter change is the only thing i can think of that is not major, i dont know a whole lot about your bike but other than that i hope you figure it out :)

Thanks. Everyone else I've talked to thinks bad gas, too. We'll see what happens.

Yeah, could be bad gas or something in the spark system breaking down, check your battery connections and voltage, something may be getting vibrated loose. Hopefully its bad gas and not a weak coil/cdi or leaking spark plug wire.
