Mechanical question.

My little CF Moto has started getting temperamental.

The engine sputters and lags at high throttle, particularly above 40MPH and/or when the engine is stressed (such as accelerating uphill).

I've tried running Iso-Heet and Stabil-treated gas through the engine, and it seems to have helped slightly, but I'm wondering if I might need to replace the spark plug or perhaps do something even more invasive.

I'm not a terribly mechanical person, but I do know my way around a toolbox. I just hope I don't have to replace anything important, because getting the parts for this thing is going to be a copper-plated bitch. (With apologies to any female canids that may read this. <^,^> )

12-03 Edit:

I've managed to solve about 90% of the sputtering problem with the simple expedient of running an entire bottle of Gumout Fuel System Cleaner through a fresh tank of gas. I still intend to check the fuel/air filters, spark plug, carb, etc., and a new exhaust has been ordered, but it was still a remarkable increase in performance.

It was like seeing a child that had been deathly ill running around and playing again.
