getting a move-on

the VA has finally done some work for us. it seems my dad might be moving to the beaver valley nursing home "anytime soon". they're basically waiting for a bed to open up. that could be tomorrow or a month from now. nonetheless, my dad is in very high spirits. it also helps that his MRI appointment, and soon after neuropathic appointment, is coming up soon. looks like the lord has opened up some big opportunities for us to get things going our way.

school has been *ehh* lately. i like teaching some of the tougher music theory to the seventh graders, but the sixth graders have such a lack of responsibility that it drives me mad. i'm going to have to give more work to this next crew to keep them accountable. a couple kids in particular are driving me up the wall - though it's not just because they are misbehaving. it's mostly because i think they're really good kids deep down and i can't figure out why they choose to act bad or disrespectful when they could be excelling. typical teacher gripes, i know.

duffy has recently asked me to make some marching band arrangements for the coming season. i'm so excited about it that i've been downloading and reading "nightmare before christmas" MIDI's all night. i feel that it's doable, though i'm gonna have to get a read on what level of difficulty/instrumentation he needs in order to pull it off. the best part - i'm gonna get PAID! that's been a rarity since i've been arranging for kennywood. this will roll up nicely with the couple of (probably unpaid-for) stands cheers i'm making for cyndi and the montour band.

i wish i hadn't taken those excedrin migraine pills with dinner. now i'm gonna be up all night humming "this is halloween" to myself. goodnight.
