ack that would be terrible!!!! but I don't think that Ishida has any Hollow essence so then Ichigo's bankai in particular should be total poison to him. god i can't wait to see where Kubo goes with all these ducks he's got lined up!!!
Well, who knows? Maybe in the end Kubo will turn to idea of totally peacefull relations, and all character will open their eyes to the fact that being only a little bit of all can be good? Well, Ichigo being a good example and all.
Also, might want to speculate, that considering the warning that he may be not able to return, with being so might and all, maybe they'll just make him the new king. While also making Aizen watch.)
To me, it sounded like Cang Du's dismissal of the zanpakutou spirits was "I've heard of this superstition but I think it's as real as the Tooth Fairy and you're all talking to pieces of your own brain like crazy people". Which honestly isn't that unreasonable an assumption if you've not had a lot of friendly contact with Shinigami or access to helpful illustrated sequences taking place inside their brains, demonstrating what's going on.
I'm... not sure it's that reasonable for a Quincy to be leery of this kind of thing, though? Quincies make it their business to destroy Tooth Fairy Gone Bad essentially speaking so :D
Yes but Hollows are (to the spiritually sensitive at least) something that is obvious to an outside observer, whereas the nature of the Shinigami/zanpakutou relationship is not. For a long time there was uncertainty in the fandom as to how "separate" the two were, although the zanpakutou filler arcs in the anime mostly laid that to rest.
