i think it would be pretty rare to find a wolf thats been accidentally hit by a car but roadkill foxes/coyotes pop up pretty often here and on taxidermy.net if that meets your requirements.

You're not alone - I follow the same policies as you! I will never spend money on something that was murdered.

Does this include roadkill? I have to say of all the wolf carcasses reportedly "found dead in the middle of the woods" or the like, I've only seen one where I was relatively trusting of the account of the circumstances under which it was found. Every other has been more like "what? no, I didn't kill it, of course not! Now pay up."

When a wolf dies it is not usually of old age, if you catch my drift.

Roadkill wolves, while still rare to see obtained and preserved in time, seem much more likely to find.

Can't say I can help you too much on the laws, though. XP Good luck!

oops lol "or been found by the roadside"

Do you discriminate between animals that have died in captivity of disease and those that were put down? Just wondering. "Killed by man" is a reeeeaaaaally broad term.

Oh, animals that have been put to sleep for a medical reason is absolutely fine, by me. I worked at a vet and have euthanised animals myself, so I know its a necessary and is for the animal's benefit. So I have no issues with things like that.

It's also illegal in most cases, and very difficult in the legal ones, to pick up a dead CITES animal and use the parts. The way the gov't and CITES knows a wolf is legal is because someone bought a tag to kill it in the first place. The only time a person can use a dead wolf is generally with an educational/salvage type permit. So I would be extremely leery of anyone trying to sell a "naturally killed" wolf. They're either lying to make you feel better, or they have an illegal wolf.

I actually have a roadkill yote pelt from Zhon. It has a massive hole in its back, and its far from perfect, but if you're a scrap collector (like me, lol) or you use them for crafts, it's perfect.
