Im a collector of mainly skulls/teeth/claws and odd scraps of fur/tails.
My main areas of interest are canines, and wolves in particular. Wolves have a spiritual meaning to me, hence my desire to own things pertaining to them. Im also very fond of rats in a similar way.
However, my collection is small, purely because I have two problems.
Firstly, I am in the UK, and understand that most wolf products cannot be shipped here, making it pretty unlikely I'll ever get the things I really want.
Secondly, and this seems to be the biggest problem, Im very strict about which items I'd buy.
I refuse to buy anything that has been deliberately killed by man. Im aware that there are things such as population control that are done for, from what my research has suggested, valid reasons. But as far as using my items in a spiritual context, any animal deliberately killed by man would feel tainted to me and I would never feel truely at peace around it. Im sure that, regardless of the reason, that animal didn't want to be killed by us.
This also applies to buying frozen 'feeder' rats. I don't approve of this and would not fund the industry by buying them, even though its a ready and cheap source of rat skulls and bones.
Therefore, this limits my choices to things that have died naturally, or been found by the roadside, or even products from zoos or veterinary establishments from deceased animals.
My collection at the moment is entirely from fluke items that I've managed to grab and be sure of their origins, or have obtained second hand so am not funding animal killing.
I suppose my question is this....does anyone know of anywhere, or anyone, that would sell items which match my requirements? I think Im kinda giving up on getting any wolf stuff here (though I do have a fossilised wolf tooth necklace) much as I'd love some, but Im very open to other canine items, providing they are, as I say, not killed by man. I see an abundance of coyote, fox and other critter skulls and bits and pieces on ebay but few will actually state where they obtain them, and thats far too dodgy for me. I'd rather go without than be unsure if I've funded something I don't agree with.
