Lost and Gone Forever

Aug 10, 2005 23:52

laaaadies (and gentlemen, because I know some of you read this): today at work when i had some down time I decided to clean out my ND email account. I decided to (finally) go through my OUTBOX folder, which has a copy of every single email I've ever sent. I know I've gone through it a few times and deleted all of the non-personal emails, but I've never actually read it like I did today. The best ones were the emails I wrote during Freshman year and the following post is word-for-word quotes from these emails that I re-read for the first time today, all sent to Uncle Andrew, Aunt Cynthia, or other family members and some friends. Some of you (DianaChristaBethanyLizMelissa) will get all of them and the rest of you can just enjoy Kathleen circa fall semester Freshman year. Oh and whoever guesses the DOUBLE meaning of this post's title wins something good. Like maybe a batch of biscuits when we're all reunited...
----------------------------------

"Still no encounters with alcohol, and I just want to get the first time
over with. I know once I sort of start getting used to it, the whole thing won't
bother me as much."
^from an email right after Frosh O

"I ran to the bat, spun for a
while, and then tried to run back to my team. Instead, I ran almost directly
sideways, wiped out majorly, got up, then ran into a pine tree, then wiped out
again. All the guys (and girls) were watching..."
^no explanation needed

"And South Dining hall! It really is the best."
^i don't know what crack i was smoking at the time. and little did i know it was about to be our Freshman year A-Number-One place of dinnertime memories.

"I met a guy from Seigfried, and he has been calling me. He plays hockey here, and is from Toronto. I find it somewhat amusing."
^freshman Kathleen, what exactly DID you find amusing? the fact that you then were known to the whole ND hockey team as "The Subway Girl?"

"I am a little nervous about going off campus just yet, mostly because I don't
know many people, and want someone to be there to take care of me if the need be.
I've sworn to myself that, if I drink, it will be with at least one or two
people I know and trust. Rally in the Alley is going to be risky this year, so I don't
want to go."
^Oh, innocence

"MY LIFE IS MADE!!!!!
WORDS CANNOT DESCRIBE.
I finally got to do the crowd push ups, on the third TD."
^ Diana, do you remember the hourly countdown to the first football game that i had on our white board outside good old room 1-2-9???

"And then... the cheers here are so
complicated! There are all these things to remember!"
^Oh! kathleen! could you please be more of a dork!

"I woke up this morning and went to the Rock. even before I ate breakfast."
^uhhhhhh i really don't know what to say to this one, i dont know whether to be proud or embarassed.

"But the guys my friends are already going out with may honestly be the ones they marry."
^Two Words: Cheech MaChong. And another two words: The Tree.

"But after the last class, I had the great idea of getting into old clothes and running around in the puddles. So me and Christa and Thomas and Sebastian wents nuts outside and jumped and slid and threw each other in the mini-lakes."
^Possibly my best memory of Freshman year.

"Question #2: when you "shake it like a polaroid picture" would that be a side to
side shake, or a floppy sway like you're flapping the picture?"
^does anyone remember the dance at COBA?

-----------------------------------------

I think that is sufficient. I seriously have the best memories of the fall of freshman year, and i think some of you might enjoy this little walk down memory lane.
If anyone else has Outbox treasures like these, I expect a posting.

And I apologize if no-one finds this as funny as I did. tell me what you think.
