let me see, where to start?

I think I mentioned before that I was going to attend the Grainger Country Tomato Festival. well, I sure did. Mary, Annie, and I made the hour long drive out to Rutledge, TN and heck yeah it was worth it. some highlights:
*clogging groups composed of 60+ year olds, some of which still wore the traditional clogging attire of super short dresses with about 65 layers of lace and lace frilled panties
* very serious tomato wars
* a Civil war Re-enactment site, and booths of Confederate memorabilia all around. I actually heard one man on a soapbox, telling everyone how the South was NEVER in the wrong. Ever.
* Gospel singing stages
* eating lunch at a roadside diner with the BEST fried Okra you've ever seen, and hot apple pie with ice cream.

the week pretty much went downhill from there, but then again, that's hard to top.
At the TV station I've been working a lot on editing a package about a BBQ place we shot, not to turn in, but so I can use my stand ups, my interviews, and get practice using the editing system. Its crap, but whatever. This week I start putting together my very own package, one version of which will be aired, and one version I will take with me for future audition tapes. It took me FOREVER to figure out what I wanted to do it on, but I remembered seeing this artist at the Tomato festival, who does BEAUTIFUL Americana/Pennsylvania Dutch/German/Schnerischnitte (paper cutting) art, and has recently published a children's book. So whatever. It might be boring, but she lives in a renovated 19th century house out in the country, so maybe I can get something out of that as well. Anyways. I am enjoying the internship as a whole, the people I work with are a lot of fun, I love going out on shoots and shooting the shit w/ them. one of them just got a surprise makeover on Friday, he's this 30-something family guy who thought it would be cool to sport a mullet and a 'stache for 20 years. We had fun w/ that. And they are very encouraging over all, I now know I can write copy and I'm learning a lot of technical stuff about shot composition and editing finesse. I've realized A) i NEVER want to be a news reporter, and B) landing a job in this business will be possible, but it involves working from places like Bozeman, MT into higher markets. Which certaintly isn't condusive to family live, and I think if I chose a career in this field I would have to be single and unattached for at least a few years. So I'm not so sure about that. But its good I'm seeing all of this now, I guess.

all right.
i'm really excited for school to start. not sure when i'm going to be up there, but I do know that i'm ready and waiting for an ND Fall, my favorite time of the year in my favorite place in the world. Bring it ON.

Johnny just got home tonight, I hadn't seen him in almost three months. The only one still traveling the four corners is Liz. When she gets home I'll breathe easier knowing that all of us are home and safe and sound. For at least a week or two.
