25 Unicorn Street, Friday Evening.

Jun 26, 2009 17:12

While Mina had informed many of her other friends via phone messages, she found herself making the time to stop by 25 Unicorn Street to inform Minsc and Mr. Algren in person. In her mind, she argued that it was on the way to where her portal would appear, and not that she felt a more personal connection to these men.

She was fully dressed for travel when she knocked on the door of the house. She waited patiently, even if she had little time.

Minsc
Minsc, meanwhile, seemed to be heavily engrossed in a very important lesson to Boo involving...cheese.

The cheese grater, it appeared, was insufficient for grating cheese. What was more sufficient, apparently, was a sword. "We shall just cut it, Boo! Really really fast! It will be far more fu--"

He lifted the sword, got ready to send it down on the counter when there was a knock at the door. He stopped.

"Oohcompany!" he said, sheathed his sword, and then went to answer it.

But not without giving the cheese a glare on the way out. "We finish this later, dastardly cheeeeeese."

Nathan Algren
Algren, meanwhile, had been in his room, writing in his journal. It was a great deal of the same old, really.

Blah blah blah, the island is insane, blah blah, need more whiskey, blah blah blah, it's a shock that I haven't been turned into a moose or something, yet, blah blah, guilt guilt, bitter bitter.

The knock on the door really was a welcome interruption, all things considered, and he made his way out of his room to meet Minsc in the hallway.

"Before we let anyone into the house, please reassure me that the foodstuffs haven't come to life and declared war on us for wanting to eat them, Minsc?"

It wouldn't do to let houseguests be eaten by 'dastardly cheeeeeeese,' after all.

Minsc
Minsc paused a moment. He looked over his shoulder back into the kitchen.

"Nope!" he returned with a proud grin. "Not sentient yet! Although I think there's some leftover in the fridge that might be close!"

Mina Harker
Mina found herself growing impatient. If no one was home, then she would have to simply leave. She knocked again, hoping that an answer would come.

Nathan Algren
"Well, then we just don't offer whoever is at the door any biscuits," Algren decided, sighing a little in relief as the visitor knocked again. Apparently occasionally, Fandom had the ability to behave itself. "Go ahead, Minsc. Get the door."

Minsc
"Oh, right, the door!"

He knew there was a reason he was out in the hallway. Minsc went and answered it with gusto, as probably only Minsc can do.

"Lady Wilhelmina! Hullo! This is a lovely surprise! Would you like any biscuits?"

In one ear, out the other.

Mina Harker
"I do not have much time," Mina said. "Is Mr. Algren at home as well?" she asked.

Nathan Algren
Algren sighed faintly and stepped forward so that he was standing at Minsc's side.

"Yes, behind the mountain of Minsc," he replied, mostly even pleasantly. "Good morning, Mrs. Harker. To what do we owe the honor of your company, today?"

Look, Minsc was huge. Nathan was... Well, he was short. It was no wonder that she hadn't noticed him, but it had a funny way of taking a ding out of his pride, now and then.

His very, very short pride.

Mina Harker
"I have come to inform you that I may be gone for some time," Mina said. "And indeed, that if I fail to return you must assume the worst."

She said it in a matter-of-fact manner.

Minsc
"That sounds suspiciously like an adventure, Lady Wilhelmina!" Minsc noted cheerfully.

He could only approve of adventures, really.

"Good for you! Maybe you'd like some biscuits for the journey? There's cheeeeese, too!"

Nathan Algren
"Dastardly cheese," Algren added, though it was more a bemused echo than anything else. "Is there anything less... potentially hazardous to your health that we can do for you? Anything at all?"

He didn't trust the cheese any more than he trusted the biscuits, damn it. And he wasn't too keen on the thought that she might not return.

Mina Harker
"Sadly, there is not," Mina said. "I know little of what I am to be doing, but only that it is of the utmost importance and gravest of circumstances."

She gave a brave smile.

Minsc
Minsc, it would seem, could only be happier if he himself were the one going on this bold and important adventure. He gave a resounding pump of his fist in the air. "The stuff of legends! Right, Boo? You will surely be most victorious, Lady Wilhelmina!"

Nathan Algren
Though Algren was... less exuberant over the whole situation, he couldn't help but nod, and attempt to offer her a slight smile of his own.

"Come back to us, Mrs. Harker."

He'd offered his assistance. What else could he say, really?

Mina Harker
"I cannot promise," Mina said. "Though I must hurry, my portal should--"

She didn't have a chance to finish her statement. Due to a massive clerical error at Portalocity, her portal opened right then. Right on top of the gathered three.
