hello again spidey faithful...

Welp, I'm back at school. I got in around 9:30 yesterday night after a fairly uneventful trip up. It was really, really foggy going up yesterday. Kind of like fog soup. So after getting dropped off in east and walking in the pouring rain back to my dorm, I go into my room, open my guitar case, and what do I find? The bridge on my new Ovation guitar is ripped clean off. Needless to say much swearing and cursing ensued. Apparently, over break the heat was turned of so the room was really cold, a couple days before the dorms opened housing turned on the heat full blast to compensate for the cold of the rooms. That much heating and cooling puts unbearable pressure on the bridge of the guitar and it snapped off. I think this could have been saved if, before going to break, I tuned down my strings so there would be less tension on the bridge. Oh well, sometimes this stuff happens.

So today, besides getting my books and settling back in, my job was to go to Alley Cat (the music store here) and bring my guitar in to get it fixed. Fortunately for me, the break was clean so, while it's still going to be a tough fix, it will be fixable. I also bought some new strings that they're gonna string on after they repair the bridge. All told it's gonna come to $80, not as bad as I thought it was going to be, but I'd rather not be out that money. At least it can get fixed though. On a different note, the weather here sucks ass. I mean big time. This is the kind of weather that sucks your soul out of your nostrils. It's the kind of weather that makes me a sad panda and drains my energy. If I was a weatherman giving the forecast, instead of saying it's raining in the low 40s (which is the actual weather), I think I'd just say "don't go outside today, you'll become depressed." That way, I'd jump right to what the audience wants to hear instead of giving them the actual weather outside. And the extended forecast? More of the same. Hooray for El Nino winters. Well, till next time...
