Rob stopped by my PCP's office on his way to work to bitch them out (go Rob!). He explained to them that the form wasn't even filled out all the way and that, because of their ineptitude, my absolutely necessary medication was denied. He was promised that they'd redo the form and call me today.
MHIP called me back this morning at 9:30 (I'm impressed). According to them, the Prior Authorization form they received from my PCP's office was filled out for both Singulair (allergy med) and Enbrel, on the same form, and didn't even have my diagnosis on it. I asked her all the questions I needed answered, and was told that my PCP's office can resubmit the prior authorization form and that, as long as they fill out all the parts, it should be accepted and I shouldn't have any trouble getting it.
About 20 minutes ago, my PCP's office called me, as they said they would. The lady said the form was already filled out and they were going to refax it. Alarm bells went off in my head as I asked her, "Wait! What medications did you list under the Prior Treatments part?" Good thing I asked, because her reply was, "Oh, Celebrex, Loestrin*, and Tylenol 2" *(Loestrin is birth control). *face palm* I told her to get rid of all of those and gave her the complete list (well, as complete as I can remember anyways) of medications I've been on for my JRA. She said she's going to fax it today.
Hopefully this debacle is over with and I'll have my Enbrel approved within the next week.
... And, in other news, I'm getting sick. I woke up this morning with a swollen lymph node on the right side of my throat, a sore throat, and a low temperature of 98.3F. I managed to get an appointment with my PCP today for 4:15, which is pretty much a miracle. I've never gotten an appointment so fast with him.
... And, in other, OTHER news,
calli_thaala is arriving tonight. I hope that whatever I'm sick with is easily treatable (i.e., bacterial) and that I feel better quickly.
Oh, also, my cell phone seems to be finally dying (it's over 5 years old). I don't seem to be able to make any out-going calls with it. So, if any of you are waiting for a call from me (I'm talking about you, Mom!), call me instead.
