As I sit and ponder on this Christmas Eve
Is Peace on earth that hard to achieve.

Whatever happened to the Christmas joy.
Of a beaming child unwrapping a new toy.

As we gather to celebrate the Christ child born.
We so amid strife, turmoil, hatred, and scorn.

But I do have a wish to give across this land.
Merry Christmas to all and make the day

Christmas, it appears, is a holiday for the youth. As a kid you get lots of presents, lots of neat toys. And a few practical gifts, like socks. But as you get older the neat toys vanish, the number of gifts dwindle, but the practical gifts remain. Shouldn't that be reversed.
