Apparently I'm not satisfied searching for regular jobs I'm not qualified for and I am now looking in the most...unconventional places.
Not like that, perv.
I've been on the FBI, Dept of the Navy, and several government websites in my attempt to become The Man. I got an email from someone at City Year Detroit outlining some jobs in Michigan, most that I am sufficiently unqualified for, as well as an informational session with the Secret Service that's happening at Wayne State. I was seriously considering attending except that I don't have better than 20/60 vision. That's right folks, the only thing keeping me from protecting Very Important People is my poor eyesight.
I have also submitted another inquiry into teaching English in Korea...although with a organization that had a better website, so hopefully less sketchy.
Korea is sounding better and better, if for nothing else than the fact that I would at least have my own space. I'm mentally packing my suitcases right now. Going to Korea is less scary to me than when I was heading to Chicago with the hopes of a City Year job. How screwed up is that?
I would probably go days, if not weeks, not talking to anyone outside of my school. I imagine it would be like the summer I spent in Australia, where I came home from work at 5pm, reheated some stir-fry and watched "Stargate: SG1," the only person I would perhaps see was Pip, if we were filling our waterbottles downstairs at the same time.
Sigh, that sounds really nice right about now.
I don't know why; I have the days to myself for the most part, now that my sister has a job. I spend my days watching episodes of "Torchwood" (with the delightful John Barrowman!) in between running job searches on increasingly ridiculous websites.
So obviously the answer is to move to the other side of the world (again!)
:)
