I'm a year older.....again
Yesterday was my birthday. I am now twenty-seven years old :)
It was a very good day. I opened presents with Anthony in the morning and then once we'd had lunch, we headed to London. It was incredibly hot there and we thankfully found our hotel fairly easily. We were there for the sole purpose of celebrating my birthday by going to see David Tennant and Catherine Tate act in the Shakespeare play Much Ado About Nothing. They're there in London in the play til September so if you can go, do it! I adore Shakespeare and haven't seen any acted live for some years so was really looking forward to it, as Much Ado is one of my faves. It's such a funny play and is my brother's favourite. I got dolled up in a short-skirted dress and heels and we went for dinner before heading to a very beautiful theatre. It was packed, unsurprisingly. The whole cast were fantastic, no one was a weak-link at all, the 1980s Gibralter setting worked perfectly, and both David and Catherine was amazing in it as two people who loathe each other but fall in love after secret prompts from their friends. They were literally brilliant. Some of the scenes had the whole theatre in hysterics. Also the ending was so joyous. I really hope they film this play and release it on DVD like they did with David's performance in Hamlet a couple of years ago.
I had the best evening, they got three curtain calls and so deservedly. I was giddy the entire walk back to the hotel, jumping around in my heels. It was just such a fantasic performance. It was a wonderful end to a really great birthday. Saturday will be my birthday part 2 as my parents come to visit for lunch and present giving. I can't wait :)
