Early American Coppers (EAC)
Early American Coppers (EAC) Club
Early American Coppers (EAC) is a not-for-profit numismatic specialty organization founded in 1967 to serve as a point of contact for collectors of early U.S. copper coins - Colonials, Half Cents, Large Cents, and Hard Time Tokens. Today EAC comprises over 1,200 members located throughout the United States. EAC members are deeply interested in the historical background, attribution, grading, rarity, and related aspects of the early coppers, as well as collecting and trading. Many EAC members are highly knowledgeable and prolific contributors to the numismatic literature of this country.

ANA Money Museum to host exclusive program
The American Numismatic Association will host a special program May 2 in Colorado Springs, Colorado, at the Edward C. Rochette Money Museum exclusively for attendees of the 2014 Early American Coppers Convention.
EAC members will get to participate in a private show-and-tell session with Money Museum Curator Douglas Mudd as well as explore the museum’s three galleries and the Mini-Mint, where a special token will be minted for EAC attendees.
“Having the EAC convention in Colorado Springs this year is exciting,” Mudd said. “It has provided a great opportunity for EAC members to get a glimpse of the Edward C. Rochette Money Museum’s holdings of early American copper coins.”
The Money Museum will also show one of its popular traveling exhibits, “Money in Early America,” at the convention.

Questions color reader's decision to switch to copper coins By Doug White
As time passes and collections grow, our collecting interests invariably shift as well. In some cases, we reach a collecting goal within a series or perhaps hit a “collecting wall” of price or availability. Whatever the circumstance, our eyes begin to wander in new directions. For me, that direction has been to copper - Indian Head cents more specifically.

The lure of copper By Q. David Bowers
One of my favorite coin magazines is Penny-Wise, the official publication of Early American Coppers Inc. (www.eacs.org). EAC draws together about 1,300 collectors who enjoy the lore and lure of half cents and large cents of the 1793 to 1857 era with a nod to Colonial coppers of the 1780s as well. EAC has maintained its membership more or less steadily in recent years, according to a report by treasurer Chuck Heck, this in a time when many other specialty groups in various hobbies are registering declines.

Searching back in time By Bill O'Rourke
Finding obsolete coinage while searching through rolls is what many of us strive for. Any time we unfurl the end of a roll and pour its contents onto our tables, we fervently hope to see some kind of unusual numismatic treasure staring back at us from within the pile of coins that appears before us. Imagine my surprise recently when a very worn and very old copper piece fell out of a roll of what should have been all United States dollar coins.
Counterfeit Detection: 1908-S Indian Head Cent by Max Spiegel, Numismatic Researcher on 1/15/2013 The grading room was recently presented with a 1908-S Indian Head Cent for certification. The 1908-S cent had the third-lowest mintage in the Indian Head cent series with 1,115,000 pieces struck. The first of only two San Francisco Mint Indian Head cents, the 1908-S can trade for more than $100 in average circulated grades according to the NGC US Coin Price Guide.

Bill Weikel, PhD Patriot Rare Coins & CurrencyBill started his coin collection at the age of (9) nine. He began to build his coin collection as most youngsters did with Indian Head and Lincoln cents. Bill left the hobby for a period of time. Then one day in 1985 he pulled out his Indian Head cent collection and it revitalized his interest in the hobby. He bought the 1877, 1872, and 1909S finally finishing the set in 1987.
In 1987 he opened Old Kentucky Coin and operated that business until 2002. Bill then retired and moved to Florida. The golden years of retirement left him bored. He missed the numismatic hobby & his coins. So in 2004 he reopened his shop under the name of Patriot Rare Coins & Currency in Florida. His specialty is coppers, early type coins, colonial currency, and obsolete currency .
