With his granddaughter in his arms, Roy couldn't help but grin smugly at all the people he passed, taking the time to explain that yes, this was his grandchild Viola, and yes, he was very proud of his son and his daughter-in-law

Maes made his way into the office and grinned when he saw Rosaline. "There you are," he said, coming over to kiss her cheek. "Did you get a tour of the place?"

Rosaline smiled back and was about to answer when Viola looked up at Maes and shouted, "Daddy!"

Maes leaned down and kissed Viola's forehead, too. "I take it she's been having fun."

"She threw a little fit earlier over some candy," Rosaline said, passing Viola to him.

Maes frowned down at Viola as he settled her against his hip. "That's not good. What have we told you about that, Viola?"

Viola whimpered and buried her face in Maes' jacket. "Daddy," she whined.

Maes sighed and smoothed Viola's hair down. "It's not fair," he said to Rosaline. "When she gets like this it's impossible for me to scold her."

"It's alright. She's just a baby, so I think we can afford not to scold her too much," Rosaline said softly, rubbing Viola's back.

"Maybe if she's good for the rest of the day, we can go get ice cream." Maes said, looking down at Viola and waiting for her reaction to that.

"Ice cream?," Viola asked, looking up at Maes hopefully.

Maes grinned and nodded. "But only if you're good."

"'kay, Daddy!," Viola said, nodding her head eagerly.
