And Let's Keep It That Way

Two Months Earlier

His feet stalled in front of the glass cell with the words ‘do not resuscitate’ plastered all over it, the sleeping form of a boy serene even as the embryo pod he was shoved into filled with water slowly. He wasn’t attached to any breathing tubes.

7 took that moment to run by him, throwing over his shoulder, “Come on 94, let’s haul ass!” But when he still paused to look back at the innocent boy in the pod, 7 sighed in exasperation. “He’s a no code, 94, leave him. He’s probably defective, or worse, dangerous.”

“So, what gives them the right to kidnap us off the streets, inject every possible gene they can get their grubby little hands on into our veins, only to kill us off when we don’t come out like they want us to? What gives them the right to play God?”

7’s voice deadpanned. “Money, I should know, now let’s get the hell out of here!” But his hand on 7’s wrist stopped him from running off.

“You control water, right?” His eyes searched the smaller man’s pleadingly.

“……..oh you have got to be kidding me,” but even as he said it, a hand raised up, fingers spreading wide.

They both watched as the water shattered the tube that the boy -experiment 68 T.A.O. the plaque read- was in, a calculated whistle shattering the glass that stood between him and the prone figure. He caught the boy before he had the opportunity to fall into the puddle of water and broken glass at their feet, surprised at how light he was in his arms.

“So that’s how you got out of your cell,” 7 murmured as they once again took off down the corridor, the light bulbs flickering and going out above their heads. Looks like 4 was finally awake enough to do his job.

“My part was easy, it’s 88 we have to worry about. Hopefully he isn’t so drugged up that he can’t teleport us out of here.”

“Well that’s what we have 10 for. Not to mention if any of us end up getting hurt in this plan, he can fix us right up.”

He merely grunted, stopping when a fireball shot past them, narrowly missing 7’s head.

“Watch it!” 7 hissed.

“My bad, thought you were guards,” the tall boy in front of them, 61, said sheepishly, a smile still on his face as their eyes once again adjusted to the dark.

“Is 88 good to go?”

“As good as he’ll ever be, but he’ll have to do us one at a time, has already started, in fact. You guys are late," 61 sing songed.

“That’d be my fault,” he sighed, shrugging and bringing attention to the figure in his arms. 61 raised his eyebrows but said nothing on the matter, instead motioned them farther down the hallway. His eyes met with the few sad people he hadn’t been able to release, but they were running out of time, the alarms blaring all around them putting him on edge.

“10,” 61 whispered, making a sleepy eyed boy with fluffy brown hair turn towards them, “three more.”

“Three? But I thought-” at all of their pointed stares he stopped what he had been about to say, grumbling, “three, sure, what do I know about counting? Not like it’s draining me to heal all of your sorry asses.”

A knife stabbing down into his arm had him screaming in shock. 10 rolled his eyes as he maneuvered the blade until it sliced back out of the skin, a microchip flying out of the wound in the process. The healer’s hands were hovering over his arm in no time, the gash knitting itself back together in seconds.

“Consider yourself lucky, I was his first subject on finding the fucking thing. Took him ages,” 61 grimaced.

“Dead boy next,” 10 yawned, his eyes growing unfocused. “He won’t complain as much.”

“He’s not dead,” he grumbled, watching as 10 made quick work of it, but as he was healing the boy, he faltered, stumbling to the side, 61 having to reach out and catch him as he passed out.

“Well fuck,” 61 muttered, worried eyes looking over to 7.

“No way," he said, already catching on to that look. "No fucking way are you leaving me here,” 7 practically screamed.

“But they’ll track us if we don’t,” 61 said, trying to be reasonable and failing miserably.

“We can’t leave him behind, he helped me save 68," he argued for the smaller man.

“And why did we even bring 68 in the first place? I’ve never even seen him before.”

“They were gonna kill him... just didn’t seem right,” he trailed off, lisp growing more apparent the more uncomfortable he got.

“Regardless, we can’t take 7 now.”

“You say that again and your 50% water of a body is gonna explode, okay? Just cause you can wield fire doesn’t mean you’re made of it.”

61 raised his eyebrows at the shorter man before a slightly woozy 88 was teleporting next to him. “Who’s next?” he stuttered, leaning against 61. You could practically see his blush in the dark.

“I’ll go,” 7 growled, picking the knife up and shoving it into his arm in the same place he’d seen Lay position it. They all watched with wide eyes as he dug around in the open wound with his fingers until finally pulling the chip out himself. “Now get me the hell out of here before I pass out from blood loss.”

“Good idea,” 88 paled before the both of them disappeared in seconds.

“So…” 61 started, the two of them staring at each other blankly, each holding a passed out person in their arms. “I’m Chanyeol.”

“Sehun.”

“Well, thanks for letting me out, Sehun. I’m sure I don’t have the best reputation in here…”

“Honestly, the more I heard about one of you, the more I wanted to get you out even more. We need to cause some serious damage when this is all said and done.”

“Hell yeah we do!” Chanyeol cheered, but his voice died out the longer they had to wait. “…so where the hell is 88 anyway? He wasn’t taking this long earlier.”

“Who knows," he shrugged, kicking behind him, a small whirlwind flying down the hallway before the group of guards now barreling towards them even got close, the wind throwing them all back.

Chanyeol stared down at the ground for a second before sighing. “Hold my healer for a second.” Sehun’s eyes widened. “Oh calm down, he’s light.”

Sehun did his best to juggle the two people in his arms, opting for putting their feet on the ground and just resting them up against him, grunting as he did so. Meanwhile 61 Chanyeol formed a fire wall between them and the guards that were quickly getting back up.

“There’s a reason 12 had us come down this specific corridor. Only one way to get to us,” he smiled, though his grin faltered as the smoke alarms went off around them, water dousing them as well as Chanyeol’s flames.

“… apparently even bad guys have sprinklers.”

“Go figure,” Chanyeol said blankly, coming back over quickly to pick 10 up again. 88 chose that moment to reappear beside the four of them. Perfect timing, if a little dramatic.

“I only have enough juice for one more go, sure we can’t ditch the dead ones?”

“They aren’t dead,” Sehun argued at the same time Chanyeol growled, “I’m not leaving him.”

“Touchy,” 88 muttered, grabbing onto their arms before teleporting away, the bullets now whizzing towards them shooting through air. They were gone.

“Now why didn’t you just do that in the first place?” Chanyeol scoffed as they looked around at their new surroundings. A tiny ass apartment in who knows where, but it was better than an underground government facility.

“Because frankly, I wasn’t sure I could. I was planning on leaving your ass if that was the case, though.” Chanyeol’s face fell as he heard that, even as he hugged 10 tighter into his chest. Could someone say crush?

“Not to mention we had no idea where the hell we were going or if we were even staying together,” a new voice added. 00, the very first experiment. Sehun hadn’t wanted to release that one, but in the end, he wasn’t given a choice.

“We have to stay together,” a shy voice piped up, the ice wielder 99.

“I don’t think that’s such a good idea,” a strong voice from the couch sighed, and every time he shifted on the fabric, little sparks of light would shoot out from him, the static electricity visible. He hadn’t personally released the man, so he hadn’t been sure of who he was until just then, number 21, the electric conductor.

“You say that when you were the one that tried to leave mere minutes ago and ended up frying some dude on the street,” 77 remarked snidely. He had actually been the one to release 21 in the first place, apparently they had ‘history’. 21 looked down at his feet, eyes in turmoil as he bit at the inside of his cheek, before remaining silent.

“Give him a break, none of us are used to interacting with people yet," 4 defended.

“Oh, like you’re one to talk,” 77 sneered. “You could pass for normal with those weak ass powers.”

“And who concealed your ass, huh?” 4 shot back, skin glowing as his powers went haywire.

“Guys, calm the fuck down. How about we learn each other’s names before we decide to bite each other’s heads off, hmm?” 00 stepped in, quite literally, pushing 4 and 77 away from each other, his height towering over the both of them. When the fight settled down, they found themselves all staring at each other warily, sizing the others up. It was possible that Sehun was the only one that knew of everyone's powers, well, everyone's except 68 still in his arms.

“So there’s twelve of us? Fitting,” a quiet voice said from the corner of the room. It was 12 himself, a passed out 7 resting on his lap.

“Think twelve is enough to mess some shit up?” Chanyeol asked with a grin.

“I know twelve is enough,” 00 said confidently. “…but maybe let’s wait till 1/6th  of us isn’t passed out, yeah?”

And for the first time that night, they could all agree on something. It wouldn't happen often.

A/N: Another chapter down, woo! I wasn't planning on this one, to be quite honest. I knew I had wanted to start out from their 'prison break' for the taohun but hadn't planned on it being this extensive, had honestly thought this was going to sum up their entire relationship thus far. Apparently not. But I guess that'll be next chapter, or who knows, a few chapters down the line! Also, don't expect me to go in any sort of order with this story, as I will be jumping around in the timeline quite a bit, depending on who or what I'm writing, but in the foreword I will probably number which one comes first? Just so there's no confusion, or maybe just do that in the authors note of each story. I'll explain it in the story as well, but sometimes people miss minor details like that, no biggie~

This was, once again, really fun to write! I've never written a story like this, and I rather like it! Hope you guys do too! Ah, and the numbers I used are the numbers from their jerseys, if you were wondering, I didn't just make them up out of the blue xD But if you, by chance, don't know their numbers OR their powers, I'll sum it up for you:

Kris (00) - Flight

Baekhyun (4) - Light

Suho (7) - Water

Lay (10) - Healing

DO (12) - Earth

Chen (21) - Lightning

Chanyeol (61) - Fire

Tao (68) - Time

Luhan (77) - Telekinesis

Kai (88) - Teleportation

Xiumin (99) - Ice

And finally, our hero of the story, Sehun (94) - Wind

Phew. That A/N was a story in itself! <3
