UMD Weekend Wrapup

Oct 25, 2010 14:39

UMD comes away with a home sweep of UAA; Friday a 3-2 overtime win and Saturday a 6-0 rout. Powerplays weren't the story Friday (UMD 0/3, UAA 0/2) or Saturday (UAA 0/5, UMD 1/2), but I suppose you could say thinks might have been different if UAA could have done anything on them.

My thoughts:
- Darn that JT Brown looks good. Granted it's only four games in, but he's been incredible. As have his line mates Schmidt and Oleksuk.
- The UMD students really need a renaissance. Their chants have gotten kind of stale. Seriously, what's more lame than taunting the opposing fans when you're up 5-0 in the third and the opposing fans have been dead quiet the whole evening, probably because there's only 5 or them.
- Along a similar line the "white trash" chant needs to go away. Well, except possibly during UMTC weekend.
- One again I had to resort to buying ice cream because it was pretty warm in the DECC
- The UMD students had a great chant of "We want ice cream". I thought it was due to the fact that it was so warm in the building, but turns out a business gives ticket holders free ice cream when UMD scores 5 goals and at the time of the chant UMD had four. Keeping with my general "no free advertising" policy I won't give the business name.
