While thinking about the system used in Ji Dian Station, I came across an excellent essay on the mechanics of, and the numbers behind, the dice systems used in various game systems. Going closer to the root of the website reveals more essays and documents that cover game design.

One of the many community/RSS feeds I watch via LiveJournal is the Steve Jackson Games Daily Illumninator (a.k.a. sjgames), which is filled with product updates, Illuminated Site of the Week, and the occassional gem, like the 10 Principals of Game Design, boiled down in an easy to read and humorous manner.
