Concerts!

ok so minor new goal, I wanna list my all time best everything. i.e. best concerts I've been to, favorite places I've traveled to, top restaurants I've eaten at, etc. And since I went to one of the most amazing concerts of my life last week, it's fitting to start there.

So from what I can remember (and in no particular order) my favorite concerts and why

Manchester Orchestra - 3/10/10 @ the Troubadour. I went with Hannah Ramma. Ugh I don't quite know how to describe why this concert was so amazing. I guess the best way to explain it is to say that I've reached a point where I feel like I'm over the whole concert scene. I love going to shows because nothing beats seeing the band you love play live; but I'm over the crowds, the opening bands, the useless drama, and sweating, overpriced parking and tickets, and so on. But in this case none of that was an issue. From the second we got there we were able to get to the front with ease. There were very few annoying people in the crowd, the opening bands were amazing, especially Biffy Clyro. ANd the Troubadour is just such an amzing place to watch a band because you feel so close and connected to them. But of course those are all superficial reasons why the show was so good. When it comes right down to it, this show is on top because Manchester Orchestra blew me away. I love them, they are definitely my favorite band at this moment and it's a rarity for me to see my favorite band play when they're actually my favorite. Usually I see them after I'm over them because in the time between them setting concert dates, buying a ticket to the show and actually going to the show a lot changes and a new favorite band emerges. Or I see a band play as an opener for another band I like, I go from having no idea who they are to falling in love with them, and then the tour ends and I can't see them play again. (Case and point, I first saw Manchester Orchestra Play years ago when they opened for Brand New. I fell in love with them. Then that tour ended and while my love grew, they disappeared). Okay, so that's the long and short of it. Andy Hull's voice is just beautiful and songs haven't come to life like that for me in a while.

Jason Mraz - 4/6/08 @ The Troubadour w/ Connie, Pickle and Janner. now let me explain. I have seen Jason play more time's than I can remember. He was one of my first real concerts ever. And I have some great story from each show of his that I have gone to. I've also managed to meet the man on numerous occasion at his shows either because of good timing, hard work, or just plain luck. But really nothing beats the show at the Troub because I watched it from the stage. I sat on the edge of the stage the whole show, inches away from the man's bare feet. And at the end I jumped up, got on stage, and danced with him. Yes, that's right. I danced on stage with Jason Mraz. I'm smiling just thinking about it! Also here's my best effort at listing how many other time's I've seen him. Fist time was at the Wiltern with a bunch of the 69ers. We made a poster and we saw the cast of American Dreams. Saw him again at the Wiltern and got to meet him because of the poster. Saw him at the Roxy with Nicole and Ashley and met him again/had him sign the poster. Saw him in Vegas with Killa & met Toca. And most recently went with my cousins to go see him play at the Hollywood Bowl w/ another of my favorite musicians Brett Dennen! I feel like I'm definitely missing one.
