For some reason people seem to think that Philadelphia is this far away land that is uninhabbitable and hard to get to through any means of normal transportation. I assure you, it is none of these things, and I have taken quite a liking to living here. I would LOVE to share that liking with people back at home...however, in the two years I have been down here I have heard every excuse in the book as to why my own family and friends cannot or will not travel down here to see me. Some of the more ridiculous is "How will I park?" or "It would just be a hassle because of the distance".
This urks me.
It urks me, dear readers, because somehow once or twice a month I pay out of my empty pocket to get home to these very same people and somehow I get there. What is even more amazing to me, is that when I am done visiting I manage to get back home, parking and all! Friends that I have met from the internets travel from Maryland, Virginia, and Long Island to come see us with no problems! Imagine that! I know, it is a miracle in the most wonderous of heavenly ways.
So I am a little bitter lately. Sad and bitter because I miss my friends from back home but have realized that the world once again is moving on as we get older and move on ourselves. I guess we realize that we are worth the effort to a new brand of people and have lost our effectiveness to some that are old.
I am happy in Philadelphia with John and everyone here that has been nothing but amazing. I guess it is time to start looking forward too.
