A:TLA Sugar Cookies!

Yes, I did make these. *is a dork*

Not-too-sweet sugar cookies, doesn't require lots of ingredients, and easy to make. :) I discovered that these cookies, while baking, don't really spread out, but tend to rise in place. So if you make an Aang, you don't have to worry about him growing as big as an Appa. xD

Ingredients:

- 3 cups flour
- 3/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 tablespoon milk

- 2 bowls
- baking pan + greased cookie sheet

Steps:

[1] In Bowl 1: Mix the flour, baking powder, and salt

[2] In Bowl 2: Thoroughly mix the butter, sugar, egg, and milk.

[3] Gradually add Bowl 1 (the dry ingredients) to Bowl 2 (the wet ingredients). Mix so that powder is well mixed into the dry ingredients.

[4] Preheat oven to 375 F. Grease cookie sheet.

[5] Shape cookies. I made mine around 2 inches in diameter. Use something with a fairly thin tip to draw the face details, like chopsticks. I used a skewer stick I happened to have on hand. Press into the cookie dough, to draw the details in, but don't cut all the way through. Go deep enough so you can see the details, and not too shallow either.

* I found that it's better to press the skewer/chopstick/stick into the dough for the details, rather than just dragging it across the dough. It makes for smoother details.

* Also, be careful to not make some parts of the cookie, like say the ponytail attachments for Sokka or Zuko too thin, or they will brown too much before the rest of the cookie.

Character specific (in case you want to read how I did this too):

* Aang - He was the easiest, seeing as all I had to draw were his eyes and the arrow.

* Katara - I just drew in her hairline, and rolled two tiny bits of dough and put them on top of her hair as the attachment for her hair loopies. I then got another piece of dough and twisted it a little bit for her braid, then attached it to the back of the cookie before putting her on the cookie sheet.

* Sokka - Drew in the face details. Then used a piece of dough, shaped into a sort of triangular shape, and attached it to the back of the cookie for his ponytail. Then I used the skewer to press into the end of the ponytail to give it a sort of frayed look.

* Toph - Drew in face details. Tore strips of dough, shaped them, and framed them around her face to make the hair, lightly pressing them down. Made another thin circle that I put at the back of her cookie, off center for the rest of her hair.

* Appa - After making the circle for the main cookie part, I made another circle of dough, then tore it in half. I left the torn half as is, to keep it frayed looking, for the fur that drapes over his face. I placed that on top, and then drew in the detail of the arrow. Then rolled a tiny piece of dough into an oblong sphere for his nose. Used bits of dough and attached them on the sides/back of the cookie for the horns and ears. After attaching them. I then curved the horns and shaped them so that the ends were a little bit pointier.

* Zuko - Drew in all the details. Added a strip of dough at the back of his head for the ponytail, similar to the way I did Sokka's.

* Betrothal necklace - Simply drew in the details.

ZUKO ♥ om nom nomz.
