And now presenting a run-down of an excursion to Drayton Manor Theme Park.

Left Banbury on the coach at nine, slept most of the way there (come on, I had to get out of bed at seven). Arrived at the park, and had a bit of a wander about. First port of call?

Shockwave. A standing-up, ultra-fast rollercoaster that's been in service since about 1990. Shuv dragged me on, and I was shitting myself all the way up; I usually hate rollercoasters. But, I was pleasantly surprised; I think it's because a) it's one where you stand up and b) it's over in about ten seconds. So I went round corkscrews and loops screaming 'WOOT!' and 'SHOCKWAVE FOR TEH WIN!!'. Brilliant stuff.

Later, we took a trip on this big bastard:

Maelstorm. Best ride ever. Not only does the bar move along the x-axis in a parabola, but the circular construct also spins through a complete 360 during that. So, you've either got your legs trying to go all ways, or your arse is coming off the seat. And the view as you come rushing back around... oh man, it's awesome. Shuv was not so impressed, and I had to promise not to take her on it again. ;D!

So, two big rides, after that we just took it easy for a bit ;X. Went on the cable cars rounds the park (on which we decided to give Apocalypse a miss; it's one of those bi towers where you go to the top and take a vertical drop) and... er, I forget now to be honest. Went on the Splash Canyon ride later on, which is one of your generic floating ring-raft type rapids affairs - bought the photo from it as well. Oh, also, went on this ride which was basically a demented 'It's a Small World After All', but with pirates. Holy sweet! Pity all the models looked about 15 years old. Tight Brummies (Drayton Manor's about 10 miles outside Birmingham).

So, apart from me being sick in the queue for Stormforce (a big log flume ride) later because of a) the stink of sweat and b) the heat, and the occassional snotty-nosed English wean, it was an awesome day out. Definetley want to go again, but maybe in the spring when the schools are on and it's a bit cooler. Maybe I can drag the family there next time we're in Birmingham; I daresay my dad and sister would enjoy it.

Also, I won a stuffed toy. Brian from Family Guy, no less. Contrary to common practice, I decided not to give it to Shuv. She can win her own sodding toys. I was surprised I actually managed to get the balls through the net, but I suppose it's due to all that time I spent playing that daft little basketball game in the Golden Saucer on FF7. Seriously, I looked over at the net and though the exact same thing I do when I'm playing that thing; 'shoot straight, hold power for 2 seconds'. Bah.
