Searching for another Fuhrer

Feb 11, 2007 21:40

Fuhrer Roy Mustang has had a busy day of things. So far, he's found out that the Havoc of his world has been kidnapped, and that Dante still has a mad-on for the Fuhrer's office, to say nothing of his own wife. Now, he's out looking for Fuhrer Bradley of his alternates' universe. Given their prior discussion he believes that this Bradley would not ( Read more... )

He smiled genially at Fuhrer Roy and motioned toward the seat across from him. "Not at all, please take a seat," he said, taking note of the calm demeanor, it seems somewhat forced to him. Perhaps he could find something useful from this conversation.

He took a sip of his tea, "Now then, what can I do for you?"

"Thank you," Roy says as he takes a seat and starts to look over a menu. "I noticed that when we last spoke, you spoke of someone who had mistaken you for someone else. Can it be safe to assume that she was someone who thought she was your master?"

He certainly takes the scenic route to get to his point...

He remembers that well, "Possibly, though I fail to see the importance of such a thing. Why do you ask?" He can be just as scenic Roy if you let him.

"Actually, now that it's brought up, that woman has made herself something of a pain. She's from my world, you see, and she fancies herself as deserving of all kinds of things. Including, apparently, the right to kidnap my subordinates with impunity," Roy says, still calm, and still forcing that calm. "As you can imagine, I am not pleased with this turn of events. I was hoping that you were displeased with her assumption the other day as well."

He's laid out some of his cards, at least...

Ah, so it was one of his subordinants. Mustang had that weakness back in Wrath's own world, it made sense that it would remain, even if Mustang did become the fuhrer like he planned. "While it is irritating for one to believe that they are master over me, I have no quarrel with this woman." In other words, you're going to have to play more cards if you want his help Roy, he's not just going to give it too you without there being something in it that either interests him or is to his advantage.

"I didn't imagine that you would do it so simply, but it is nice to know your thoughts on the matter in the first place," he says.

Now he's smiling a little more genuinely, if somewhat deviously. "Before I make any offers, and there will be an offer worth considering I assure you, I must ask a question first. I've come to you because in my world, you were a military genius. And a homunculus, of course. It would do me little good to attempt to enlist your help under false assumptions, so let's do away with those assumptions in one fell swoop. So if I may ask, in your world are you the military genius of Ishbal? And are you a nigh-unkillable homunculus?"

He leans back in his chair, that devious smile on his face.

Wrath took another sip of tea before answering, weighing the options of telling Mustang or not. Seeing as how both the one in his own world knew and this one knew of his counterpart, admitting to it didn't sound like such a bad idea. There was that one part at the end though that he couldn't admit to. He held his cup slightly above the table, "It seems you already know quite a bit about me, but I assure you that I am far from indestructable. You flatter me Mustang by saying as such." He chuckled and tipped his glass to Roy before taking another sip. It would be interesting how that little tidbit of information might trickle to the Col. Despite the fact that he was getting older, it was quite fun trying to catch up with the younger ones.

"I didn't say indestructable, just unkillable," Roy said back, his tone almost genuinely friendly. "That's beside the point, though, as the answer suited me. I know considerably less than you may believe, but then, that would probably go both ways."

He smiles again. "Back on topic, Dante is holding my subordinate for ransom. We've got a plan in place to rescue him easily, but we're lacking a bit of muscle. It's almost assured that she's got a homunculus or two on her side to prevent any 'Foolish rescue attempts'. I'm also anticipating that she's brought in help from outside of Amestris by way of other visitors to the Nexus. Skipping to the point, I would like to request your assistance. My compensation would be similar service on my end. A Fuhrer's favor, which as I'm sure you can appreciate is not something that men like us would offer lightly."

It's his first offer, and ultimately the best thing that he can think to offer. Oh sure, he's got other ideas should this come up short, but at this rate he wants to get this done with

He returns the smile, perhaps not as genuinely as Roy, but there's a little respect in it at the very least. "So you would like me to go in and make sure the other homunculi won't get in the way of your operation, is that it? I'm sorry, but you'll have to do better than that, Mustang. Do you have any idea as to which homunculi she might be employing? That is what interests me." He's laid some more of his cards for you to pick at Roy, now it's time for you to see what you can do with them.

"Actually, I don't think so little of you as to request your services as a hitman, per se," Roy says. "I prefer to think of it as a balancing act. But yes, I would hope for your help with the homunculi in specific, but you are a strategist and a soldier, not a one trick pony."

He pauses, studying Bradley for the moment. "So you're curious about the homunculi as well. I have little in specific, though I have a very good guess. The subordinate that they kidnapped was Jean Havoc, and it just so happens that one of the homunculi has recently accosted him. Lust, I believe her name was. I haven't heard one peep from her in any regard since this all took place. The odds of the two being unrelated are very slim," he explains. He's playing the rest of his cards closer to his chest now, but he's willing to give quite a bit more than he normally would due to the circumstances.

That's what he was hoping to hear, it was nice to see that despite whatever his alternate may have done to this Roy, Roy still had some respect for him. "My apologies for assuming so little of what you thought of me, I can only imagine what sort of things have happened to you."

Now you have his interest Roy, "Lust you say? Now that is odd, I did not even know that an alternate of her resided here. This does change things, yes. You have my attention, Mustang." Humor him.

"It is not an unwarranted assumption," Roy tells him, smirking slightly. "No matter what may have happened, it is seems to be universal that you are a force to be reckoned with. Besides, I'd rather not have facts from one world cloud the judgements pertaining to another. The differences are what makes alternate worlds alternative after all ( ... )

Before getting to his own interests in the matter, he may as well give Roy his own take on what's going on, he did ask for it after all. "Those all sound like very plausible ideas as for what she might be after, Mustang. But if I understand your last bit of information correctly, she can't do any of this without a stone, and to my knowledge, any form of making a homunculus requires that." Though why this woman just hasn't injected a stone into herself yet is questionable, he thought ( ... )

"I actually plan to do one better with regards to the hostage situation, and I think even you will be surprised. Suffice it to say, though, that the Riza of note will not be in attendance." Roy says, smirking. "As for your interests with Lust, I can accept that. Consider it an accord, and I thank you for your assitance. No matter what your motive for it may be."

He reaches out over the table to Bradley, a surprisingly trusting gesture from this Roy.

"I look forward to it," he smiled. It would be nice to see something unexpected for a change, though he doubted it would happen when the time arouse. He took Mustang's hand and shook it. Not necessarily a surprising gesture, but a gesture nonetheless.
