Something just occurred to me. Where the fuck is Blake in that opening scene?

Seriously! If there was anyone who would be calling Weiss out on bitchy behaviour, it would be Blake! But all she does is complain that she can't get any reading done??? WTF???

Kirby, you forget though, this Blake has a boyfriend. She doesn't need to speak up for herself, that's her boyfriend's job now. Hell, she shouldn't even speak unless he allows her to. She needs to be a good little wimmins and stay in the kitchen.

What she viewed as strength, AJ saw as just being rude.
In the hands of a better author, there wouldn't be anything wrong with this line. On it's own, it implies that both characters are wrong. That Weiss's standoffishness can come across as rude, and that Boy needs to learn that she's not a bad person inside. The problem is that we all know that Boy is 100% in the right and only Weiss needs to learn anything.

but she made it clear that she did not want any help.
This really says it all. Ruby, the one who is more determined than anybody to push past Weiss's cold demeanor, is the first one to back away, but Boy, who doesn't even like Weiss, he'll step up. ::rolls eyes::

[Talon]: Is this an indication of slash between Weiss and Ruby?
I think it's indicating slash between answered and insisted. Call me a traditionalist, but I only ship asked/answered.

Blake spoke up, unable to hide the annoyance in her voice.Blake is the non-confrontationalist of the group. She wouldn't say anything if Yang's already got things in hand. If anything, I ( ... )

Ruby had hugged her, but she always found it annoying and embarrassing.
Okay, I know this hasn't actually happened yet, and I think the fight with Blake helped Weiss open up a lot, but I'm going to point out when they're playing the board game. Ruby jumps on Weiss's lap, and she says "Don't touch me" even as she hugs Ruby. That tells you all you need to know about how she actually views Ruby's affections.

There are people that are not comfortable with being touched.
And Weiss is one of them. Again, pointing out the scene at the board game. The "Don't touch me" response is clearly ingrained in her, if she still says it to people she's actually willing to touch.

She couldn't go back on what she said and try to help him now, she had to treat him as she always did.First of all, she's a tsundere. She doesn't need to keep her word if she doesn't want to. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, see the scene where she's telling off Ruby and hugging her at the same time ( ... )

As you said, this scene could work, and rather well. [...] But yeah, it should have been Yang, or honestly, I think Ruby's an even better choice. There's no reason it has to be Boy (and several reasons why it shouldn't)

Yeah, it's also possible that Ruby could have been the one to comfort Weiss too, but we only kept thinking of Yang because of the formula ProAJ was using to comfort Weiss, which again is something else that is stolen from Yang ( ... )

You're absolutely right. Yang and Ruby would approach the situation differently, and the more brute force approach ProAJ uses here would be closer to Yang's*. When I say that I think Ruby's a better choice, I meant on a more general level, since Weiss has more ties with Ruby than with Yang.

* Although I'd like to think Yang would know that, generally speaking, if someone struggles against your hug, let the fuck go!
