They fired again and the weapons went back towards it taking off its legs, they fired again and their weapons both hit its neck taking its head off, all in an instant. Again, we have all this build-up, but the Alpha Beowolf goes down just as easily as any other. Also, this isn't how Blake fights. Yes, she fires the Gambol Shroud to change its trajectory, but she doesn't just bounce it back and forth. She swings it around so it's always coming from a different angle.
My purpose is pretty clear to see now that I don't wear my bow. And yet, her answer isn't any different!
AJ, your leader, and I are going to secure the perimeter. Not surprisingly, ProAJ is missing the point in this. Oobleck was taking Ruby away to give the others time to think and talk about the thoughts he'd triggered earlier that day. There's a reason he always left with a question, or a statement of doubt. He wanted the girls to really think about why they did this. Now, in theory, if Boy's answer was good enough, he'd probably invite him along, because the girls need to be away from people who already have their answer. But, as Kirby stated, he hasn't given a good answer. He's explained why he stays in this world, but not why he's become a Hunter. More than anything, this is a missed opportunity to actually develop Boy in some way.
He felt it overwhelming him and he let out his Aura to resist the evil that it was giving off. Oh, goody, he's an empath now. Why is it that the empaths in fanfiction are always the least empathetic people (even if the fics claim otherwise)? And I'm not sure which is worse: On one hand, there's the fact that he just Aurasploded near a pack of Goliaths. While they're not looking for a fight, they still might see that as a challenge. Not to mention they've got a city full of younger, less intelligent Grimm behind them. On the other hand, if he hand't, he'd apparently have unleashed the Kyuubei, or whatever. So we have a Huntsman who is in danger of losing control (not that he has much to begin with) whenever he's near a powerful Grimm. Not exactly ideal.
He hasn’t actually improved at all. Probably because he's lost some of that initial excitement. He even admits to being lazy right here. A real writer combats this by finding ways to excite himself about the writing, or just forces himself to put his all into it, even if he's not completely feeling it. There's no excuse for not giving 100% when you write.
"I nominate Oobleck!" AJ yelled suddenly, smiling. Yeah, except he asked for volunteers, not a vote. Given how psychoanalizy he's been during this trip, I think Oobleck would probably ask Boy why he was so eager not to be on first watch himself.
when he suddenly activated his ice dust and shot an ice spike out the window into the street below and heard a cry of pain from a Beowolf, So he's attacking creatures to alleviate his anger. Isn't that a sign of psychopathy?
Weiss said harshly as usual. Even ignoring how much Weiss has mellowed out, the point in this scene is that it's not usual. She's agitated, because she can't answer Oobleck's question. On that note, if Boy has his answer all figured out (which he hasn't), he should have been removed from the scene. Either he's suffering insomnia and goes for a walk, or else he's a deep enough sleeper that he doesn't wake up (like Oobleck pretended to be).
And yeah, talk about mismatching the energy of a scene. This was supposed to leave with a pensive air, not some cutesy crap.
I have been saying that Boy is a phychopath for a while now but lets check if he actually qualifies by running through Dr. Hare's checklist. 1.GLIB and SUPERFICIAL CHARM: Unchecked. He is one of the rudest, if not the rudest, People in the entire story. 2.GRANDIOSE SELF-WORTH: Check, if not outright stated then at least his attitude qualifies him for this one. 3.NEED FOR STIMULATION or PRONENESS TO BOREDOM: Check, he frequently goes out and picks fights With the local Grimm and I don't believe we have ever seen him studying. 4.NEED FOR STIMULATION or PRONENESS TO BOREDOM: Unchecked. While I wouldn't trust Boy farter then I can shoot him, he actually doesn't appear to lie all the time. 5.CONNING AND MANIPULATIVENESS: Checked. Whenever he is not being racist, Boy is manipulating People for his own gain. 6.LACK OF REMORSE OR GUILT: So checked. The only person Boy cares about is himself. 7.SHALLOW AFFECT: I don't know if this one should be checked or not since Boy seems to have some emotions, even if they mostly appear in the form of rage and annoyance. Ah, whatever, checked. 8.CALLOUSNESS and LACK OF EMPATHY: Checked. Again, he is rude and racist to everybody. 9.PARASITIC LIFESTYLE: Check. While Boy can be said to only live at Beacon because they were the People who found him, I find it hard to believe that Vale does not have some system for picking up and educating orphans. This is supposed to be a death world after all. 10.POOR BEHAVIORAL CONTROLS: Checked. This one speaks for itself, doesn't it? 11.PROMISCUOUS SEXUAL BEHAVIOR: Unchecked. The only person Boy seems to have any romantic interest in is Blake. 12:EARLY BEHAVIOR PROBLEMS: Unsufficient data. Though I wouldn't put it past Boy to have done at least some of the Things on the list. 13:LACK OF REALISTIC, LONG-TERM GOALS: Checked. The only goal Boy has is to be a Hunter, besides that he doesn't care about the future. 14:IMPULSIVITY: Checked. Again, this one speaks for itself.3 15:IRRESPONSIBILITY: Insufficient data. Though knowing Boy, I wouldn't put it past him to check off this one to. 16:FAILURE TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR OWN ACTIONS: Checked. "It is Weiss' fault that I almost killed her, really." 17:MANY SHORT-TERM MARITAL RELATIONSHIPS: To Young to check off this one put I fully expect him to throw any of his "friends" under the buss if he has to. 18:JUVENILE DELINQUENCY: Check check check. This one pretty much describes Boy's entire attitude. 19:REVOCATION OF CONDITION RELEASE: Insuffecient data. Unless Boy is hiding a past in prison he doesn't check off this one (yet). 20:CRIMINAL VERSATILITY: Unchecked. The only crimes Boy does are (repeated) vandalism and (repeated) attempts of murder and unless you consider his attitude to be him bragging about getting away With, he doesn't check off for this one. With my amateur physiological knowledge I gave Boy a score of 36, which qualifies him as a phychopath and just unlikeable in general.
