What's up. Sooo- the other night one of my house mates said he was on the way to "Brazillian dancing" Capoeira lessons and invited me to go. I've decided that you should not reject most things until you try them at least once, so I said ok. Jeeze, huge mistake. The word dancing should've been a warning- I really don't enjoy it. But that's beside the point, because capoeira is not dancing- it's this crazy acrobatic/martial art/fight thing. It's really awesome to watch- hard to explain- like a rhythmic fight to Brazillian music. What makes it beautiful are the cartwheels, handstand moves, etc. mixed with kicks and defenses. I definately stink at any kind of gymnastics though, so it was pretty much 1.5 hours of pain and today I am very sore! It's all good though, if there is ever a festival with capoeira, I'd recommend going to check it out.

Hmmm.. what else is new.... we have a HUGE spider living outside the commons room. And we found a really lethal looking spider in the sink. I also saw an owl in a tree the other night. No kangaroos or koalas though.

Oh.. an observation. Slightly (or heavily) inebriated Aussies at bars seem to really like to talk about American politics- specifially, Iraq. As soon as they hear your accent, it's like "your president is trying to blow up the world!" At first I thought that Australia was more of a neutral country, but it's definately not. There was a huge peace march here around the time I arrived in Sydney. Surprisingly, the general attitude toward war seems to reflect American views. Despite massive peace rallys, most Australians are for war with Iraq. ... politics, blah.

It's yet another gorgeous sunny day- gotta run!
