laura had to go back to work yesterday, so i figured i'd go to central park and wander around for a bit. but, it was so hot outside that i decided i would have to go inside or i'd be miserable. so...i went to the NY Museum of Modern Art(NYMoMA). i'm really glad i did, it was great.
their new building is really nice...and, well....modern. heh. i spent most of my day there yesterday. i dont think i've ever seen so much awesome art in a week before. i saw my first piece by Lee Bonticou (sp?), frida kahlo's self portrait of her in a suit w/her hair chopped, van gogh's 'starry night' (honestly, it wasnt a big deal...but i really liked that painting when i was a kid, before i knew anything about art), a huge retrospective of friedlanders work, a huge room full of pieces by rauschenberg, a few pieces by eva hesse, warhol, miro, litchenstein, chuck close, irving penn, and a bunch of new artists that i intend to look into. i could go on...there was so much...
yesterday felt like a religious experience. or at least, as close to a religious experience as i've ever gotten.
today, i sat around in laura's room, next to a fan on high, while doodling and watching web-cartoons. hooray for ethernet....i'll be so dissapointed when i go home to my dial-up. oh well.
