Okay, so it's been a super long time since I've updated, so get ready. here it comes. I have been at camp, the most glorious place EVER. The pay is shit, the food isn't always great because the cook's a psychobitch, some of our campers are nutty in a bad way, I work 18 hour days, I've had 2 riding accidents, one of which sent me to the ER, I'm worried about my sister while I'm there, but I am having the TIME OF MY LIFE!!!!! It's insane.

A Day in Emily's Camp Life

I get up at 6 AM, shower, am clean for 15 minutes, then go saddle horses. They are bitches. They're always fighting with eachother. Not so cool.

Breakfast is at 8 AM. I am always late, because i am saddling horses. However, Mary and I, and whoever is helping us, always ride up to the dining hall. it's hilarious.

After breakfast, the kids have details (chores). Usually I help them with this, but this last week, I was out of ratio, which means no kids for me. Sweet. But usually, I help.

After Details, it's time for specialty areas. I help run horses. Anna and I are in charge of the more advanced kids. It's fun. When a kid gets scared though, which is often, it sucks. You have to like, talk them down. Almost as if they were a jumper on a ledge. It's not fun.

Lunch. That's about it.

FOB. Means Feet on Bunk or Flat on Back. Basically it's nap time. It's nice.

Cabin Time/Choices. Either there's a scheduled cabin time (horses, canoes, hike, ropes course), or it's a choice day, where the kids all split up into activities that we run. I run the best one EVER. Boffers. That's right. During staff training, I made 2, and they were a hit. Sooooo, my boss shelled out maybe forty bucks, and we have 14 boffers. It's so hilarious, because they spend thousands of dollars on horses and canoes, and my forty dollars worth of boffers are more popular. Little kids are violent, what can I say?

Dinner. I am always late for dinner, because I am unsaddling horses. Lately this has been done in the rain. It is not fun. Horses get spooked 'cause of lightning, it's just bad news. Normally it's fine. Dinner's usually an okay meal. Food's not too bad.

Evening Program. EP is super fun. We play capture the flag, or counselor hunt (we hide, kids hunt us), or other cool little games. Basically the idea is: TIRE THE KIDS OUT NOW!

Campfire. No actual fires from now on, because we're on a burn ban. But yeah, we sing songs, do skits, it's fun. At the end there's something called WOW (words of wisdom), and different counselors do it each time. I did one on family, and people were crying. it was awesome.

Sleep. Sleep is glorious. There's no greater feeling than a good sleep after a day of sheer exhaustion.

But yeah, basic day. Every week we do a packout, where we carry all our shit to a campsite rather far away, and we sleep outside. it's cool. I'm having a really great time. the people here are phenomenal. They're all out of their minds (job requirement), and they're just basically good people. it's weird. There's some cuties, too. Tyler H. is the hotness. he does morning jogs in just some flimsy shorts. that's nice.

I see deer all the time. The first time I saw one I was all ohmygosh it's a deer. Now it's like, hey, kids, a deer. It's still cool, but now i'm used to it.

Enough camp. I read Harry Potter VI. It rocks my face off. If you haven't read it, read it now. I am leaving for college in 25 days. sweet. Hannah has officially moved here. YAY!! It'll be good for her here. We were hanging out at Wireworks Coffeehouse tonight, had a great time. Then we were just hanging out with some people under the bridge. it was fun. met a guy i recognize from school. he was nice. But yeah, that's pretty much it. Camp is my whole life right now. I'll post more eventually. I love you guys. oh wait, a poem for you.

Going to bed exhausted each and every night.
Slowly teaching kids what is wrong and what is right.
The friends and family I've met,
The awesome feeling I get,
Every single time a kid says I'm their champ,
These are the things that I love about camp.
