Misc.

Spent most of today at the British Library, sorting through endless journal references in search of a straight-forward description of spot tests for paint media. By getting there at ten, I managed to get a desk in my favourite reading room, which was completely full by noon. Where do all these students come from? I treated myself to one of the rather school-dinnery meals the cafe there sells (including fruit pie with custard) and noticed that the BL catering is to be taken over by the people who run the rather excellent Wellcome Collection cafe.

Then home to spend the afternoon ploughing through more journals online. I became fatally distracted by back numbers of the Folklore Society's journal, and spent a happy afternoon reading about fairy cattle, unlucky elephant ornaments, and bogeymen instead. I also came across this rather lovely little film, taken from a tram passing through Barcelona in 1906. Wonderfully dream-like and sad. Not Seville, but I think pondhopper might like this.
