Slightly less panicked about the dissertation now, because finally I have A Plan and a proper title, instead of a huge random pile of interesting facts. The title is even in question form, which I am told is essential ("Is there still a case for pesticide use in museums/conservation?"). This took quite a long time to develop, since personally, I would far rather read a collection of interesting facts than a discussion, which is apparently what they want. Now all I need is a snappy introductory title. The tutor I have for it knows less about the subjects (pesticides) than I do, which I had originally seen as a problem, but may be useful, as at least it will get me to clarify my argument. I deliberately selected a very scientific subject, to play to my strengths, and also to avoid getting Dr Skippy as diss tutor. I needn't have worried about that - he isn't anyone's diss tutor, as he leaves this week for six weeks "research" in Jamaica. Hem.
