Like Holkie said, Hell's Kitchen isn't a bad neighborhood. I used to have friends who live there. You won't get mugged. Its mostly Parson's students & gays now XDDD
Its actually really touristy now, as well, so it should be pretty easy to navigate! Just know the address, & wear comfy shoes. Manhattan is an easy walk. Especially Midtown.

WHEN IN DOUBT, ASK A NYPD OFFICER. THEY'RE VERY FRIENDLY, AND KNOW THE CITY LIKE THE BACK OF THEIR HAND. THEY WILL GO TO ALMOST ANY LENGTH TO HELP YOU.

I haven't taken the Chinese buses, but eh. I know the Philly line is reliable, but who knows about the Boston. Stick with Port Authority, or do like Becky said & take the train into GCS. The train is actually closer to the neighborhood, so it might be better if you don't feel like walking as much.

You WON'T make it back to the bus by 7:30. Its a half hour walk across town & probably longer by cab. Just don't even try. Stay til midnight & have fun in Times Square! Just make sure you have money to burn, because food in really expensive in the part of town. Don't worry about getting a train back at midnight. I would actually prefer that if I were you.

IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM OF NEED DIRECTIONS DONT HESITATE TO CALL ME. I'VE HUNG OUT IN MANHATTAN FOR YEARS, AND WTF EVEN IF I'M NOT SURE, I CAN GOOGLE YOU NEW DIRECTIONS.<3333
