I'm feeling very anxious and nervous today about a potential trip to New York City.
My friends and I have tickets for the Daily Show tomorrow. The only problem is: How to get there? And how to get back?
And how to not get murdered/mugged/other because the Daily Show is smack dab in the middle of Hell's Kitchen?
I'm very afraid of cities. And large crowds of people. And being far from home without some sort of parental/authority figure for guidance. I grew up in the suburbs. I go to school in one of the safest cities in the country (I think there were, like, 3 murders in this entire state last year).
We can get a bus ride there in time to line up, but, the taping gets over at 7:15 and most, if not all, buses stop running by 7:30. There's one leaving for Boston at 8 but what if we don't make it in time? We'd be fucked and have to wait for a midnight bus, or worse, we'd be stranded in New York City at night. Fuck.
We could drive, but, again, I'm afraid of getting lost. I got a GPS for Christmas so that makes things much less likely, but GPSes aren't always 100 percent accurate. What if there's construction going on? Also, GPSes don't take into account, like, bad neighborhoods. What if I drive into, like, the ghetto and get carjacked!?!!? Yes this is exactly what I think happens in the city. This is because I've never been taught any different from my over-anxious-about-safety parents, and I have my own crippling anxiety problems. This makes me sad that I feel that way, since, logically, I suppose the entire world isn't out to get me and mangle my corpse. But I just think it does.
So. Yeah. Man. Scared...I really want to go. But I'm scared :C Also what if we get there and don't get tickets? THAT WOULD SUCK. If we line up at around 2:30, we should be able to get tickets, but we'll still be in line in the freezing cold for, like, 4 hours. Damned, son.
People from big cities or with experience in New York City, give me advice 8'C
Edit: And don't suggest those Chinese bus lines! My friends and I are adamant that we not take those. Also my parents strictly forbid us taking them.
