Hi folks,
my dermatologist put me on Acutane about a week ago after everything else, in the history of ever, has failed to clear up my acne (i've had it since I was 13 and i'm 25 now. been on T for 1.5 years, which, unsurprisingly made it worse. now I have grey hair AND acne and that's just not fair. anyway.) I think it was the right choice. i'm really hoping it works on the acne BUT Acutane is no walk in the park. I've been on it for 1 week and already my lips are chapped, the skin on my face is pealing, and the inside of my nose is raw and dry. also, even with liberal usage of sun screen, i'm burning.
Have any of you used Acutane before? do you have any tips, tricks, or life hacks to help with the side effects?
also for those of you who have been on it before: they make a HUGE EFFING DEAL out of how you're not supposed to get pregnant while you're on it and that female patients have to have a negative pregnancy test each month before getting a refill, etc. Does the medication come in the same packaging packaging for everyone or am I getting the "No baby for you!" packaging b/c my dr. knows I have a uterus? I kid you not, the box is labeled with text and pictures multiple times, the individual cards of pills are labeled with text and pictures multiple times, and there is a crossed out picture of a pregnant woman on each peal off tab for. each. pill. i mean really now. it is totally physically possible get pregnant on T, but in my case there is 0 possibility of that happening unless BAD things happened and plan-b ceased to exist. it seems a little ridiculous and is more than a little bothersome to me.
thanks all,
A
