My mom has gone to a support group at The Center in Long Beach (this seems to be the flyer for it). I think it was a big help for her in dealing with my transition. This place might be a closer option, but I'm less familiar with it.

I'm no longer living in California, so I don't know too much about local resources, but either of the above places should be able to give you some referrals for doctors and therapists.

I don't know of local resources beyond what's listed on T-Vox, but they should definitely get connected with http://imatyfa.org/ and http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/tyfa_talk/ . They should also read The Transgender Child by Stephanie Brill and Rachel Pepper. It's outstanding. Definitely also hook them up with http://genderspectrum.org/ , which I think is based in CA and which has a conference coming up in July in Berkeley.

The folks in socal_trans might have more ideas, too.

Dr. Christine Milrod was very helpful in mediating a meeting between my parents and myself. It's in West Hollywood and is a bit of a drive, however. As I recall, she told me she once dealt with a 9 year old trans* patient, so she should have some experience with children.
