Dysphoria and Coping

Sep 15, 2011 22:01

I've got ascites. My doctor ordered a transvaginal ultrasound, plus a full OBGYN work up, to make sure I'm not, like, dying of cirrhosis or an infect ovary or something.

I'm... not happy and not sure how to cope. I've got a lot of genital dysphoria - to the point of barely being able to talk about it. I had a terrible OBGYN experience (post-rape trauma, plus insisting that I need to embrace and love my body as it is) and am scared of a repeat, I admit. But I think if I somehow had a way of coping with the dysphoria, I could do this.

Any suggestions?
