Panel thingie.

Hey, guys. I know I've been sparse from this community for a long time. I used to be "wombatboi". College has been taking up a lot of my time. Luckily the semester is drawing to a close and I'm working on my major projects. By the end of April I should be around a lot more, as the semester will be over.

Anyway, I will be doing a panel this evening, representing the gay/straight alliance that I'm President of on campus. )

Well, I don't think you have to identify as a gay trans man. It is a GSA, so you can just say that due to safety issues that you will not identify in front of an audience. You could bring this up with the organizer of the event and tell him or her that because the whole community is involved and not everyone in the community is affirming, that asking questions about identification could pose a safety concern for all of you. Or you could just identify as gay, you won't be less effective of a speaker because you can still bring up trans issues without coming out and saying that you are trans. I'm on this "gender identity taskforce" at my school and there are only two students on it, myself and a girl who isn't trans. She's trying to help with the T community here so, you could play it that way. If religious zealots show up to give you a hard time, I suppose you could refuse to answer their questions because I imagine that the point of this panel isn't to have a debate over your identities but instead to discuss how to make your campus a ( ... )
