Hey, guys. I know I've been sparse from this community for a long time. I used to be "wombatboi". College has been taking up a lot of my time. Luckily the semester is drawing to a close and I'm working on my major projects. By the end of April I should be around a lot more, as the semester will be over.
It's a panel of people from the community of the town that I am going to college in, and everyone is invited. It's a bit of a conservative town (well, more than a bit) so I'm very nervous to be representing a LGBT organization, especially as a gay trans person. I don't know what sort of person is going to be showing up, but we've had a bad history of people from the church coming to events like this and causing problems. I'm just hoping that doesn't happen.
The panel will start off with each of the participating members answering some basic questions, such as who we are, what concerns we have in the community and what we'd like to change. After everyone has answered those, it'll basically be an open forum for questions to be asked of us.
I was asked (along with a straight member of our organization) to participate and although I'm flattered, I am very scared. I've been out more or less openly since I came to college, but only on campus, not to the entire community.
So, we'll see I guess. Just thought I'd update you guys.
