Name change and college applications

Hey all.
I'm in the process of getting my name legally changed (not my gender, just my name) and am also in the process of graduate school applications. I want to get my name change done before I graduate from my undergraduate school so the proper name is on my diploma.
I have made it clear in my essays that I am transgendered, referring to myself as: Shara "Shayne" Lastname. I'm obviously not worried about outing myself as trans, but I'm just worried about the technical, legal aspect of all of this.
My concern has more to do with the fafsa. Will I be able to change the name on my fafsa so that I can still apply for financial aid once my name is changed? I assume I can just contact the schools once I'm accepted and let them know that my first name is legally changed, but I'm just a bit confused as to how all of this works.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
