FASFA

Feb 08, 2008 19:27

ok. so if this has been addressed in the past please link me to it.

but if not, i'm in deep crap?? i've applied and been accepted to several colleges, all of which i applied to as Nat < last name >, even though in a month or so i'm going to have my name and gender changed (with luck) ((with the idea that by the time i actually go to college i'll be legally male and Arpad H< restoflasname >)).

anyway, i just got an email from fasfa, which says they sent my info to all the colleges. fasfa says i'm < birthname > and female.

can i do anything? so far i've been completely stealth with my colleges and it really means a LOT to me that it stays this way...!!?

i'm going into freshmen year of college (obvious?), for either art (MICA) or Entomology/Ecology (Iowa State, Oklahoma state, Penn state, Purdue, or Pittsburg)
all my school records say Nat < lasname > and male.
i've had top surgery and we've done research into changing my gender, but before i can change my gender i have to have a male name, and unfortunately i can't have my name changed until my dad consents or i'm 18, which means i have to wait until March.

i have no real paper trails leading to my birth name or gender other than this freaking FASFA (and my social security, which i figured colleges wouldn't be checking??)

i've been really excited about college, because i get to learn what i want, and i'd finally be getting away from all traces of people who have preconseived notions about what i am. i'm pretty much willing to do anything to protect that... so... any suggestions?

this could also be me overreacting, which i hope it is??
