Gencon Report!
Well, I think it's safe to say I've attended a LOT of cons, but so far I have to say this is my absolute favorite. ^^ First of all the loot in your con bag is unparalelled, last year I got free copies of City of Heroes and Guild Wars, this year, free booster box of Axis and Allies miniatures and a full starter box of WoW cards!
Did more events than last year, and I had more fun, I might sign up for a few more next year ^^ More importantly though, the fanbase of anime cons has been getting stedily younger and more obnoxious. Gencon's fanbase tends more towards the 30+ crowd, and there's just a general feeling of comraderie. For instance people just walk up and start conversations with you, INTERESTING ones! And sometimes they just randomly invite you to join their game.
Now for the events!
Truedungeon:
This is still the most freaking awesome thing I've ever played, calling it a LARP doesn't really get across the ammount of effort and money that goes into the props, sets and costumes. I'm really looking forward to doing it again next year.
Tracy Hickman's Killer Breakfast:
Downright hillarious! Got to watch a fantasy author kill his partner AND Gary Gygax in a mass slaughter D&D game. The idea is that players must think up the most insanely amusing things they can do to stay alive, the moment they fail to entertain the GM and the Audience with an action they die and are replaced with another player from the audience. Going to make sure I'm up earlier for this next year so I can get up and try a few crazy ideas myself XD
Dragonlance Movie Trailer Preview:
This was really interesting. I'm looking forward to this movie, the 2d animation looks awesome, the voices we've heard are perfect. Which brings us to the parts I'm worried about, first, they used 3d animation for the dragons and draconians, and it looks like total crap, especially in the scenes where it's interacting with the 2d people. Second, the voices we HAVEN'T heard are of some concern, especially with Lucy Lawless playing the plains barbarian healer priestess >.> If I hear that fucking Aiyiyiyiyi thing come out of her mouth I'm going to vomit in Margaret Weiss's lap, I swear.
