When I first moved in here in Longsight I went to B&Q and bought a trade pack of light bulbs......that was 17 years ago. Today I am using the last one of these light bulbs to replace the one in my inspection lamp that exploded a few days ago when I splashed some cold water on it while doing the brickwork for the living room fireplace.

Over recent months I have taken to reading business books and books on personal development. It really is not like me to read books at all but I got a copy of The Botty Rules and finished it in a few weeks and it was not a slog reaching the end like most books become for me ( Read more... )

Over the last few weeks teenagedethgrrl and myself have done some work clearing and tidying the garden. We really want to completely remodel it and put in a covered bench and a couple of raised borders but for now we are just clearing what is already there ( Read more... )

Today started reasonably eary with a trip to see my doctor - not quite sure why I needed to go today but teenagedethgrrl wanted me to go. Nothing significant happened really other than having a blood test to check chorlesterol and blood sugar levels. I'm not sure what is wrong today but I don't seem to have any motivation or inspiration. The last few days I have been really quite good. Thanks to a local government grant I am able to get loft insulation and cavity wall insulation for free......now that is a price that I like the sound of :) The 'survey', which was filling out a form, has been done and I managed to get the latest possible date at the end of April. Today is the first day that schools are back after the half-term. So I half expected some to be ringing up Shoples to book a Mothers' Day stall. And it is my day to have the phone......so partly for that reason I didn't really sleep very much last night. So far I have a productive day :)
I've done quite a bit Shoples work and had a general tidy of the dining room including moving the fruit machine from one side to the other which makes more space for the table.
