She ends up stumbling across a shrine dedicated to love. At that shrine there is a sacred tree where it is said that if you hang a piece of paper on the tree with your name on it you will definitely meet your true love but if a girl tears down a girls paper than the girl on the paper will never meet her true love. Being so sick of love Kari tears a piece of paper down to make herself feel better thinking that it’s a girl’s so she doesn’t have to be the only one who suffers. But it turns out that if you tear a guy’s name down than that guy will definitely fall in love with you. She goes back home feeling refreshed but Yamada Ryosuke is starting to act a bit strange around her…
I sighed and lied down on the couch. It was Sunday and I had gone through one week of having tree-charmed Yamada being in love with me. Only one week to go. I got up and opened my bag to get my notebook. When I looked inside my bag I noticed an extra notebook. I took it out and read the name that was on the front.
Yamada Ryosuke
“AHHHH!”

I dialed Yamada’s number and after the first ring someone picked up. “K-Kari!? Is that you?” said Yamada on the other line. His voice sounded weird, sort of raspy and it sounded like his nose was clogged.
“Um… yea… hey are you ok? You sound a little funny…” I said.
“Oh yea… it’s just a little cold, nothing serious. Why are you calling?” He said.
“I have your notebook. Somehow it got in my bag.”
“Oh really?! I gave it to Yuto last because he said he needed to borrow it. He said he returned it, he must’ve accidentally put in your bag or something.” Said Yamada.
Yuto that jerk. That kind caring jerk. “Oh well, I’ll just give it to you tomorrow. Unless you need it-“
“I need it! I definitely need it!” he said.
I stayed silent for a few seconds. “Do you even know what subject the notebook is for?”
“Uh… histor-“
“It’s English.”
“Yes! That’s right! English! Haha… well, yea I need it so we should probably meet up somewhere so you can give it to me.” He said.
I rolled my eyes. “That’s not necessary and you’re sick you should really stay at home and rest.”
“Aw thanks for caring for me Kari. But I’m fine really.” I wasn’t caring for you, you idiot this is just something you should say to a sick person. “Let’s meet at…

I got to the park and saw Yamada waiting by a tree. “Hey here’s your notebook,” I said handing him the notebook.
“Thanks Kari! Since we’re here at a park we should go play!”
I sighed, “you’re sick Yamada. Go home and rest.”
“I said I’m fine! But it’s really sweet of you to care,” he said as he smiled. I rolled my eyes.
“Fine but no playing, just a short walk and then you go home.” I said.
“Yay!” he said as he began walking.
I followed him. After a while I began to notice that Yamada was starting to lose balance. “Hey Yamada, you don’t look so good. You should go home.”
“No!” his face was really red, his eyes were glazed and he was beginning to breathe harder. “I want… I just want to spend…. more time with you.” My heart ached.
“Ok, ok, ok let’s just go and sit on the grass then,” I said as I led him onto the grass. I turned around to face him and all of a sudden he fell on top of me. “Yamada! Are you okay!?” I asked. He groaned. Good. He was really weak but at least he was conscious.
I just lied there and let him lay on top of me while I thought of what to do. A couple walked by us and stared at us with wide eyes. “Wow what a bold couple,” said the girl. Ok this was enough.
I tried to sit up but Yamada was still a little too weak. His head was now lying on my chest. A couple of college girls walked by and stared at us. One of them said, “How sweet!” the other said “That is adorable!” This wasn’t much better.
“Yamada, I’m going to call Yuto and-“
“No! I’m… fine… I can get up… and walk… just let me… lean on you… as we… walk to… my house.”
“Ok come on.” I said. I got up, helped Yamada up, let him lean on me and began walking.
As we passed an old couple I heard the old man say, “What an adorable couple! Remember when we used to be like that dear.”
I blushed and walked faster.

We finally arrived at Yamada’s house. “Where are your keys?” I asked Yamada.
“In…my… pocket…” Yamada was looking real bad now. He was sweating heavily and he was barely conscious. On our walk to his house we had to stop and rest many times. I reached into his pocket and got out his key. We walked into his house, I noticed that his family wasn’t home, I helped him up the stairs and led him into the room he pointed to.
I was trying to lie Yamada gently down onto the bed but somehow I fell onto the bed and he fell on top of me. This is the second time today! “Hey Yamada… Yamada, are you okay!?” It was no use, he really passed out this time. I tried to get him off me but he was too heavy.
I lied there wondering what I should do when I heard the door open downstairs. His family was home! I contemplated whether I should yell for help or not. While I was thinking the door swung open. “Yamada we’re home! We- OH MY!” said a girl who looked about 2 years older than me. She quickly ran out of the room and shut the door.
“Wait!” I yelled. “This isn’t what it looks like! He collapsed on top of me!”
The door opened again. The girl ran over to us and helped Yamada off of me. “Thanks… uh…”
“My names Yamada Reiko, Ryosuke’s older sister.” She said. “Mind telling me who you are and what you’re doing here?”

“Wow I told that idiot to stay in bed while I went to get him medicine,” said Reiko-san as she was pouring me a cup of tea.
“Yea, I said the exact same thing but he wouldn’t listen,” I said. Reiko-san was really nice, she was also really pretty. She had long black hair and a friendly face that was slightly similar to Yamada’s. I told her what had happened and she appreciated that I took care of her brother, she was now rewarding me with tea and cookies.
“Well I’m just glad that Yamada has a very kind girlfriend.” I choked on my tea.
“Oh! Um… I’m not his girlfrie-“
“Nee-chan!” yelled Yamada from upstairs. I guess he had woken up.
“What!?” yelled Reiko. “Hey! Did you take your medicine?! I left it on your bedside table!”
“I took it! Where’d the girl go!?” he asked.
Reiko smiled mischievously at me, “Why!? Who was she!?”
“She’s my girlfriend! Where’d she go!?”
“I’M YOUR WHAT!?” I yelled.
“K-Kari!? You’re still here!?”
“Yes! You’re ‘girlfriend’ is still here you idiot!”
“……..Oh! My flu is so bad it’s making me delusional! Ah!” he yelled.
I rolled my eyes but I couldn’t help but smile to myself.
